hi there
:j
i read your tips and followed it most of the way but then remebered that i wanted to also try the new eco insurance (https://www.cis.co.uk). i got a quote from that and it is by far the cheapest (under £160!). I think its based upon your car size and emissions (sorry not one for reading all the boring stuff) so if you have a little car (like me) its worth a try and its helping the environment as well as your pocket.

I've just got a quote from Prudential for £299 for Dh. Lloyds TSB who he is with at the moment want £330, bit bizarre as they are both underwritten by Churchill.
If I use Quidco it brings it down to £199 for the year. Not bad at all!
I've looked on confused and can't get a lower quote. Any other ideas?0 -
Hello everyone - thought I'd join this thread as I'm now on the lookout for a really good insurance quote for our 2nd car. It's a last-of-the-line Peugeot 309 and not really worth a lot hence the necessity for a cheap quote!
Tried the Pru through Quidco and noticed that the cheapest it would go is £157.50 whether the excess was £0/100/200 so, I take it that there is an absolute minimum premium that these companies will go to? Take away the £100 cash back (or £50 if there is a problem with tracking the transaction?) and I think you will agree, it's a bit of a bargain compared to the inflated prices bantered about these days ("when I were a lad...." )!
Only mentioning this for those who reach this minimum price. You might as well cut your excess down for no extra penalty, aye?
Now then, is our banger really worth keeping... :think:I'm NOT political so DON'T correct me!0 -
Has anybody found any good comparison/screen scraper sites for van insurance? None of the sites suggested in the car insurance article do vans.0

When changing to a different motor insurance company they will want proof of your no claims record. Not much of a problem at renewal dateas your existing Insurer will have sent you some sort of evidence of this. However, if you decide to cancel an existing motor insurance contract mid-termyou could have a small problem ~ depending upon the company you are changing to. Firstly if your old contract was in it's first year, short period charges could apply, in short you get back less than pro-rataand secondly, you will need to get from them (or Broker/Scheme Underwriter) your proof of bonus at the time of cancellation. Not quite so easy, could take a week or two so your new Insurer will have to wait a bit. That's why it is always best to wait for the precise renewal date : much simpler!0

Duly went through Confused.com when 19 year old daughter's car insurance (in her name) came up for renewal. Was quoted more than the Renewal notice from Tesco.com so decided to accept Tesco renewal of £447. Daughter has 2 years No Claims. Then an email from Tesco this week indicated that if we bought car insurance online we would get 10% discount. Phoned Tesco and Sales Rep said 'fine just let your current policy expire, then fill out online form, phone us and we can transfer No Claims'. Did that and for 3rd party Fire & Theft (car is worth approx £1500) we were quoted £355!!!! Over £100 difference, not bad for a 19 year old student!0

Just got a Car Insurance quote from Tesco, and although the voluntary excess is £0, if you check the compulsory excess it is £475 !
Sorry, Martin, I would not recommended this site to anyone!0 -
This system has just saved me over £150 moving from Direct Line to BellDirect and I haven't lost any cover or benefits.0
