I went for a cash back deal last august with themobileoutlet.co.uk I'm on a high tariff, but can't get any cash back off them, so be warned everybody, don't do a deal with this company. they sign you up for a deal ,and don't honour it. I've emailed them so many times i'm sick of it and phoned, just to be put through to a call centre. Let me tell you all again its themobileoutlet.co.uk It's a con

Sounds horrid, but what does it have to do with O2?
    April Grocery Challenge £81/£120
  • I am feeling really hacked off with o2!!

I have been with them for over 6 years and have always negotiated a good deal to renew my contract and got a new phone for a resonable price.

For the past 12 months I have had 500 mins (across) and 500 texts per month with roll over and the international roaming deal included (based on 02 500 with a text bolt on) for not a penny over £13!!!!

Phoned yesterday thinking I must be due an upgrade soon and was told "sorry you are on an 18month contract phone back in April". Knew I wasn't but needed a bill to prove it.

Just opened my most recent bill to discover that the contract has come to an end and I have a bill for £46!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They never notified me this was going to happen.

Phoned O2 to be told they wouldn't do any sort of deal and they "have to treat old and new customers the same" Well so much for 6 years + loyalty!!

The only good thing is that with the roll over it's evident I haven't been using all my mins or text (I have 2000mins and 840 texts to use!). So I plan to shop around and see what deal I can get elsewhere then speak to their disconnections dept.

Never been this hard in the past!! I'm even threatening to go sim only! BUT my N73 crashes every so often so I would kinda like a new phone!! Argghh!!

What was your average monthly bill for the previous 12 months though? Also, is the 22.50 a month including the bolt-on?
Best I could get out of them was

    Free N82, 600 minutes, 1000 texts, o2 to o2 for £30 a month on 18 month contract
My previous year's spend was about £450. It's usually a bit higher.
I also told them I had 2 accounts to renew

I am waiting for the 2 PAC numbers but may give it a whirl one more time

Average spend worked out at around 650 but this was higher than normal as I had used the phone abroad. The price also included the bolt on.

Received the n82 today but to tell you the truth I wasn't blown away with it, the looks and the plasticy finish are not the best. I would give the n95 8gb a whirl when it comes out on monday.

I would just keep trying with retentions until you get what you want!

Perhaps, this is the best time to hit the hammer for nokia n95 (not an 8 gig one).

O2 is now ready to offer a new nokia n95 (with an 8gig card) on a £20 per month 12 months tarriff. So the trick is to bag out the max from this.
Choose a suitable 12 month tariff between £20 - £35. (Please make sure its from 12 months tariff only and not 18. http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/12_months)
Workaround the difference between your tariff and £20. Suppose u chose online 30 with 200 mins per month, the difference would be £10(30-20). So make in mind you have to ask for £10 discount.
Call O2. Get connected to retentions. Inform that your contract is over and you want to know how to go ahead with disconnection. Then the show begins when they would start asking you questions like why you want to disconnect, what phone do you fancy, how many minutes. Remember, don't show them much of interest there. They really want to find out how desperate you are for the handset/tarriff. Just go ahead with casual answering and make them to work around what you had in mind. Do tell them that you want 12 month upgrade only and not 18, and stick to it. Tell them one of your mates have got a discount for continuing with O2 and ask for the discount.

Also ask them that is there anything else they can do to make the deal more appealing. They might easily add in a 1000 texts extra but it depends who handles your call. Remember the following two points:
At any point, if you feel the ball is getting out of your hand, ask them the procedure for disconnection saying that you are not happy with the deal. Don't get them to straightaway disconnect your contract. Tell them that you would need some time to make up your mind, or simply disconnect the call.

Secondly, if you are getting a good deal make sure to take note of the O2 employee you are conversing with, so that later you can use his reference. You can simply ask their name and extension no. He/she would also ask you to contact him/her only particularly but thats not necessary. Just note down their name and reference for your safe side. You never know somebody else might offer you a better deal when you call O2 next time.

Please note that the discount doesnt apply to all the deals. Ask them what similar deals would they be able to offer the discount on.

And yes, whatever you do... don't jump on it. If in a dilemma, disconnect, take your time to decide and call back again.

Also, sometimes you dont come across the best person to offer you the deal. If you feel that he/she is hardly showing any interest to keep you, disconnect and call them later for somebody better to answer your call.

Please read some of the other recent threads about CPW retentions, they cannot be trusted. You must make sure that before you accept the deal you have the full terms and conditions including all the cashback details in writing. If they will not confirm full details in writing with nothing to misunderstand then leave them well alone.

Soolin, please cold you direct me to some of the other threads, as I can't seem to find them.

I received an email to say I was eligible for an upgrade (something I have never received before, as I have always been on cashback deals). Anyway, I was offered 200 mins + 200 texts, for £30 per month, with 11 months free. I was assured there would no problems claiming my last cashback in February, and have been given the dates for claiming the cashback on the new contract. I did ask for all the information in writing and was assured this would be sent to me. As there is no phone involved, this is definitely a cashback deal.

My o2 Upgrade is due soon,
im on the £18.00 a month tariff frm 2 years ago

    is there anyway -
I Can Get A O2 Orbit For FREE
    i Can Get A N81 For FREE
    i Can Get A N95 8gb For FREE
  • Probs not all three! Only kidding.

To be the bearer of bad news, O2 are pretty useless at retentions. At least they were last week. I wanted the new SE W960i and they would not play ball. They said that I oculd have 1MB internet. How nice of them. At a cost of £15 more than my previous contract.

She then said that she "only sold the phone" to which I responded "not doing a good job of it" she promptly explained to me that criticism and rudeness will not get me anywere and huing up. I wasnt being rude, I was being honest!

Well as such, I have now gone to Vodafone. Good riddence!
