lots of sites here selling shabby chic so it will give you an idea of the look

but everyone has their own interpretation of it, some of us are more shabby country or french chic, you can make it whatever you like; for me its faded floral fabrics, distressed furniture (mostly painted white or cream), pretty china;
hth... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Sorry your asking the wrong person there I can only just do it myself and everything is set up by my hubs so I just click thru photobucket. Will one of your friends help you?
How are you getting along with your stitching...ground too a halt yet!:o:D Or are you sticking with it?0 -
Mumzy here is the one that took 3 years to do:eek: but I stuck with it and finally finished. I did say I would never do another but I then bought the matching kit.....so that will be another 3 years:D http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm122/honrel/IMG_0671.jpg
I started off with samplers as they are more easily done, before I got going on harder projects.

I have nearly finsished the bee happy one that pennib sent me i just have to get some more black thread as i ran out and need to do some lines coming off the bee (you will know what i mean penni) and also finish off writing the word "happy". I am really enjoying it, but i didnt know cross stitching was so expensive, I do go on a site called blacksheep or something like that and wanted a tigger one off there for 4.99 but says min order £7.95
Penni your pic is loverly im sure it would of took me twice as long lolSealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -
Mumzy you dont have to pay a fortune for kits. Ebay have hundreds of low price kits. That is where I sometimes get my stuff from.
Glad you stuck with it....so its nearly finished well done you!0 -
Having looked at some of your beautiful projects I have decided that this is the look for our next home (Me and two DS)
Located a great second hand furniture place in our town - was looking for a sofa and had saved £100. Got the 3-piece suite for £30 and spent the rest on
Cot for baby (currently in bed with me) £2.50
Set of oak drawers (just needs cleaned) £15.00
A set of 2 drawers with cupboard underneath ( in horrid pine but nice shape and will look great painted) £15.00
Pine Table and 4 chairs (nice shape but again very dated pine) £20.00
and the piece de la resistance
A hideous dark oak kitchen dresser (colour is vile, but painted cream or duckegg blue will go fabulous in a kitchen. Hoping it means that I have to fit less cupboards in the kitchen as well - LOL - even more mopneysaving) For the bargain price of £10. I have always wanted one of these since watching the tarmhouse kitchen as a kid.:j
Total spends £92.50 :A
And because I live literally around the corner they will deliver on Monday for free - well my baby DS did give the van man the cutest toothy grin and I think that swung it - LOL:rotfl:
I have £7.50 left of my sofa budget to tart up all of this furniture. So I think I will go and rummage in all my friends sheds this weekend to find some suitable paint ends to use up.
Boy it is going to be a busy summer.
