I totally agree with you about not buying stuff you don't really like.We had lots of hand-me downs and second hand stuff until we could save up for quality stuff we both love.Even now I will still look for old stuff as it is so much better value for money.
When I work out a decor scheme for a room it is in the hope that it will last a long long time. Not like a lot of my friends who seem to redecorate every 6 months!

I think they mustn't really like what they get in the first place if they feel the need the change it so often. Also, waiting for things makes you appreciate them so much more.

  • Wow, been offline for two days and come back to lots of lovely posts for me to read.
I love all the things you have found over the weekend.

I managed to get a 22 piece Woods Ware (Iris) tea set, all in perfect condition for £5.99. Plus a beautiful 1910 glass jelly mould for 50p! Will pop some photos on tomorrow at some point.
I have the day off work tomorrow so I am hoping to spend the morning sifting through the local charity shops and then the afternoon making cushion covers.

Oh and I now have a nifty storage box for the husband's ugly wii console bits and bobs, which I will take a photo of tomorrow too.

And I joined the new forum, and have logged in but it won't let me see any posts or anything.
Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

Hi - if anyone is still interested in that chair - I wouldn't be surprised if you've all forgotten! :rotfl:

Anyway, thought I'd update you on progress. It's looking good, but has been hard because of the staples. But it's left me not sure what to do: I'd planned to paint it F & B or similar/cream or off white but the wood is gorgeously rich in colour and it seems a shame to paint it. Also, it has a lovely slatted backing: so I feel I should just cover the seat pad and add a cushion. The problem is, the wood has been damaged by three layers of staples (three times upholstered, this chair!). What do you think?
