Icandream...wood looks lovely, seems a shame to paint it....can you get some filler...can't think what it is called...to repair damage and just upholster the seat? Depends on where you want to put it really...which would suit best.

To be honest, the holes are tiny, but it does need a good rub down around the top and sides. Not the slats as they have been protected. So I'm more worried about filling them and then sanding back and not being able to match the colour of the varnish/match the finish - not really sure what to do.

I love all the things you have found over the weekend.
I managed to get a 22 piece Woods Ware (Iris) tea set, all in perfect condition for £5.99. Plus a beautiful 1910 glass jelly mould for 50p! Will pop some photos on tomorrow at some point.
I have the day off work tomorrow so I am hoping to spend the morning sifting through the local charity shops and then the afternoon making cushion covers.
Oh and I now have a nifty storage box for the husband's ugly wii console bits and bobs, which I will take a photo of tomorrow too.
And I joined the new forum, and have logged in but it won't let me see any posts or anything.0 -
Hi - if anyone is still interested in that chair - I wouldn't be surprised if you've all forgotten! :rotfl:
Anyway, thought I'd update you on progress. It's looking good, but has been hard because of the staples. But it's left me not sure what to do: I'd planned to paint it F & B or similar/cream or off white but the wood is gorgeously rich in colour and it seems a shame to paint it. Also, it has a lovely slatted backing: so I feel I should just cover the seat pad and add a cushion. The problem is, the wood has been damaged by three layers of staples (three times upholstered, this chair!). What do you think?

Personally I would paint it though.0 -

well done you, i must admit i am jealous,as you could put that in any room in the house....
if i had that i would paint it cream...or white and rub it back slightly to make it look shabby chic ..and the little oval piece/plate on the top i would put a decoupage ...or rub on shabby chic type victorian style washed out look rose....
you could also use a very light/pastal green and rub back to give the chic look
edit.....looking at it again, you could also remove all the wooden lattice work, and replace it with chicken style wire, 9 making sure you get the smallest gauge, and then put some lovely material behind it, like a curtain...hope that makes sense....Work to live= not live to work0 -

You need to get yourself to Warrington, there was so much woods ware, but that was all I could physically carry because I can't drive.
I adore Iris too. The only reason I saw it was because I was on my hands and knees rummaging through the bargain bin and spotted the shop assistant marking it down by £2 - I had to have it as I only had a squat tea pot in that colour.Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

Hi Allyrish
I love your home - your piccies are great.
I particularly like the stone tiles from TKMax - did you buy them recently?
I'm always looking for things with the name Hope on them - it's so unusual you can never find a cup or a pen!:D
Hope x"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0
