Thank you for all the ideas for my kitchen everyone, I will keep a close eye out for nice accesories to retro/shabby it up.
I can't wait to get into this, it's the dining room I'm most excited about but I really need to wait till I can afford some new flooring and paint for the walls before I start that. Thanks again for the advice and ideas. x:love:11th March 2010- Got engaged to my amazing fiance, planning our wedding for 20120 -
Help meeeeeeeeeee
My nan was throwing a table out  so my mum rescued it and gave it to me. It's 2' tall and the top is just under 2' across. It's one of those rough, cheapy chipboard tables that comes with a VERY chintzy tablecloth (ick, I won't be using that lol).
What to do with it?Bulletproof0 -
I thought I would share this article from last week's Times' magazine. The way Lucia van der Post describes how she built up her home is just divine.

I'm especially inspired by a couple of snippets:
"...we had to make do with what we could afford and build it up, step by step, through the years. Now I look back and think what a blessing that was. All the best houses take years to evolve, layer upon layer. This gives them depth and interest."
"I look around our house and, though it is far from the perfect template that we see in estate agents’ windows or in glossy magazines, I love it, because it is ours and could be nobody else’s. Most things in it have meaning for us."0 -

Hello all shabby chicsters. I'm a long-time lurker and superfan of this thread. All the posts here have really inspired me to think about my home and my purchases in a completely different way. In a few short weeks I have gone from stuck-in-a-rut to bursting with ideas. As a side-effect I am watching much less rubbish on television too!
Anyway, finally got round to setting up a flickr and have spent all morning snapping my humble abode. Please remember it is a work in progress
Loving all of your posts - especially the pics.
