    Morning Everyone!

I said I would add pics tonight but I think I'm actually addicted to this thread already before even becoming involved in it! So anyway heres my horrible kitchen (it's not horrible really just not very personal and too modern looking for my taste)

So if you have any wonderful mse ideas to spruce it up shabby chic style I would really appreciate it, thank you girls!

Fingers Crossed those links will work:confused:

As you can probably see, it is tiny and is also has a steeply sloped ceiling. The floor is black slate tiles, but it is such a cold room that I put a cheap rug down to hopefuly warm it up a bit- not very inspiring though.

    Thanks again for any advise.

That ceiling is lovely! If there is no way you can paint the tiles I would go for a fifties diner look instead with lots of pink accessories and a few signs.

I've painted most of my living room furniture in this Old English White - it's a lovely soft cream. The only thing I have found is that on some surfaces it has chipped a bit easily (funnily enough it has chipped most on the real wood surface) - I've also used it (with the right primer) on MDF and melamine. I tend to put a coat of matt varnish over the top now (and keep a little jam jar of the left over paint for touching up).

Anyway - I wanted to say 'good choice' :D

Thanks emg, I'm finding it hard to spread, I don't know if my preperation was bad, the funny paint that was on the doors repelling it, the brushes, the paint or me or a combination of all of those.
I really wish I'd emulsioned and waxed instead of eggshell now , bet I'll have to start again with the doors :eek:

Do you have some photos of your painted things, would be nice to see.

Thanks Pipkin - no, colour images that I printed off. So decoupaged, really. Which is why I was asking if you were planning to decoupage one. It's great fun to do.

Needmoney: Isn't that hoosier article interesting. Thanks for posting the link.

undercover_angel: I think your kitchen is lovely too. I like VP's suggestions.

Please can someone can help me with this?

Since this forum started ive read every post etc and am completely addicted...like all on here i think!! :)

Only thing is all my furniture is wood, ive posted links to pics of my dining table chairs, sideboard and dresser, i really dont want to start painting them etc incase i end up ruining them and think it might look too much if i paint all of them...i really love the shabby chic look and have just got my kitchen sorted but feel like i need to do something with my dining room.

I also have the leksvik (i think thats the name) furniture from Ikea in my sitting room, coffee table with the six shelves, tv unit and side table which i am considering painting which would prob work better than my dining room stuff!

Sorry for long post and pics!:)
