molly i hate the new bidding system as you dont know who youre bidding against :(

prime example the other day - i was bidding on a table and chairs set - me and one other bidder! I gave up at £22 and they won - then it showed who won it - it was the second hand shop round the corner from me where i got my dresser, bureau, telephone seat etc - they will be putting it in their store and no doubt wanting me to buy it!! :rotfl: I emailed and told them if i had known it was them i wouldnt have bid then they could have had it for less - in turn meaning they would have sold to me for less - now its just put me off buying from them incase its stuff ive been outbid on!! :rotfl:

That is so annoying, yesterday I put my first offer on freecycle a lovely cane sete and chair that I thought were not earning their keep in as much as they were taking up too much space and i am short of storage. It was here when I came, the chap gave it to me but it was quality stuff, anyway I gave it to the first one who asked and they turned up in a van that is obviously equipped for carrying stuff there was a bed head and bottom roped to a rail so maybe I gave it to someone who will now sell it on  doesn't really matter i would have kept it without doubt if i had the space but I would rather it had gone to someone who needed it.

yep ive seen stuff come up on freecycle then appear later on ebay - its sad as there are people out there who really do have nothing and anything they can get would make a difference :(

Thanks I'm using Crown eggshell Old English White it's a bit harder going than emulsion and wax which is what I normally use but I thought it needed something tougher.
I can't wait to fill it it's going to hold loads OH is out there now putting a few tins in just to test :D he bought me anew bench today instead of the big cane settee, it's a storage one we've decided everything has to earn it's keep:D

There's a little compartment in there that's lined with steel, we wondered if that would be the cold storage bit or a meat safe perhaps someone on here will know.
I'd love to know the history of these things the name on the little maker's badge is kompact I've searched the net and kompact comes up as modern stuff.

  • Morning Everyone!

I said I would add pics tonight but I think I'm actually addicted to this thread already before even becoming involved in it! So anyway heres my horrible kitchen (it's not horrible really just not very personal and too modern looking for my taste)

So if you have any wonderful mse ideas to spruce it up shabby chic style I would really appreciate it, thank you girls!

Fingers Crossed those links will work:confused:

As you can probably see, it is tiny and is also has a steeply sloped ceiling. The floor is black slate tiles, but it is such a cold room that I put a cheap rug down to hopefuly warm it up a bit- not very inspiring though.

    Thanks again for any advise.
