Still nervous of painting the pine bedroom furniture I got from a friend ages ago I've never painted anything before so any hints would be appreciated. I want a matt painted finish not a distressed look though. If anyone can recommend a cheaper paint than farrow and ball as it is out of my price range I would be gratefull.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Your cat is fab. Well done - it looks an incredibly fiddly project.
The throw: I bought the exact same one yesterday! How weird is that! Bought it for my daughter to cut up to make things, as our local charity shops never have fabric, and it was ever so cheap.
I love the throw but thinking of cutting it up to, my dd room is pink and white so wont really go in there so might try make something out of it, just seems a shame to cut it as its so nice.0 -

It has taken me a week but I have finally got through all 199 pages of this thread, it has really grabbed my attention and I have loved reading about and seeing all of your hard work and creativeness (lol- is that even a word?!)
I only moved into my first house last October and haven't really had any money to do any decorating and make the place more personal, although this shabby chic look really seems to be affordable as well as looking really good too!
I was wondering if I was to post a pic of my kitchen, you girls ( i think you're all girls) would be able to suggest some ways of making it more shabby chic? It's quite a modern looking kitchen and absolutely tiny, with beech doors and black wall and floor tiles so I'm not really sure that it lends itself too well to the shabby chic look and wouldn't really know where to start.
Do you think you could help?
Sorry for intruding on you amazing (and very big) thread.

You are not intruding. Welcome to the thread and please post some pics and I'm sure several will only be too happy to give you suggestionsWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

Hi Jinny. I don't use F&B and have always had good results with Crown Satin wood in Milk white.Just sand the furniture down a bit to key the surface.
