Afternoon everyone.I've finally started some projects. Not totally shabby shic but I have plans (in my head at the moment but hey!) DD getting a new bed for her birthday.I'm buying a mid sleeper and filling the space underneath with a floor quilt and cushions.I'm doing it Charlie and lola theme. I bought her the duvet cover and curtains from next sale plus an extra pair of curtains which I plan to use to make cushion covers, quilt pieces, draw string bags, memo board and storage pockets and bunting! Big plans eh.I have till July but thought I'd best get a start today while she's visiting her dad.
I also have my old toy box to paint and upholster and some little ikea boxes to paint and make individual.
I thought i'd try flickr to let you see how I get on over the next coming months.Hope you don't mind me showing even though it's not totally shabby chic
this is the fabric I started with at lunchtime

Can I pick all your wonderful brains?
I have got a small antique rocking chair. It's quite old so I don't really want to paint it. But its stained in dark oak but this has worn away in some places, leaving areas of light wood. Do I have to sand it all down to get an even finish or do I leave it as it is?
PS thanks for all your lovely comments x0 -

Oohh, I would love to be of the new shabby chic forum please! I am just about to do my bedroom. We have to wait for the plaster to dry out, but hubby has put up the ceiling roses and I am planning on painting the pine furniture. I have a wrought iron bedstead so it should be good when its all finished. I would like to see some of the farrow and ball paint colours that people have used, to give me an idea on what would look best in our north facing bedroom. It seems a bit of a cold grey light in there most of the time, whereas the back of the house seems to be flooded with sunny light. I have pine furniture in there, with lovely cheerful yellow fabrics and it looks lovely. The same colours don't look good with the colder light of the front bedroom, so suggestions would be lovely. I can't decide if I should go for the cottagy type of look, or for a french provincial romantic sort of a look. The bed is sort of a nickel type of metal, and we have two windows in there, plus an unfinished wooden door that needs to be stained up. Any ideas on colours or schemes would be welcome.
:T
Our bedroom faces North west and is dull until the sun comes around at teatime/early evening. At the moment we have B&Q soft cream matt emulsion on the walls, but I prefer the Crown soft cream, we have that downstairs, it seems to have a slightly pinker hue to it rather than the yellowy hue of the B&Q one. But then it very much depends on the light.
I think anything warm, Dulux has a range of paints and they are listed in different types like warm, fresh, cool ,bright etc. I have heard on here that the Farrow and Ball estate emulsion might not be hard wearing in high traffic areas, but the paint for woodwork seems good and the F&B Dimity is a popular colour and is warm, if you wanted your door painted.0 -

Went to a new charity shop that does furniture today - Cooltrikerchick will prob know it (in Morriston) and found another dumb waiter / trolley for £3. It has 2 trays and a drawer! Really excited so trying to rush around and photograph eveything ready for posting once I have finished sorting out Flickrr in between filling my 2 housekeeper boxes from Halfcost!
The Halfcost blue and white breadcrock is fabulous for £2, shame they dont do the storage jars anymore.Work to live= not live to work0 -
