piratess - it would lend itself to being used for spices perfect !
Now I've got a problem..........well, not so much a problem really just a 'scratching my head'and don't know sort of thing
Cleared out the corner where the plant trough was (collection of dads walking sticks -inside trough, brollies, wind chime ??? why I wonder?-dads drum sticks that Mum used for plant sticks so they're a bit rough to say the least,) Cleaned up the corner (won't mention cobwebs and muck-ooops I just did!) got out pot of stone colour paint to go over the white.........well it just looks white to me so its the same ! Now, do I paint it with a pot of light sage green like I did my cupboard ? The wall its going next to is terracotta.......other things in this room are a mixture of creams, terracotta, two bits of dark wood furniture, bed settee is terracotta and a sort of duck egg blue................large rug is same..............oh eck !! Don't want to buy any more paint really and got four match pots of the sage green............tis one of those rooms where most things seem to look ok but I painted my little bookshelves off white................so what colour do I do this blessed plant trough ???
Not all............there's also a small sort of 'stand' with one drawer in it -think I concocted it out of something and thats now a c**p colour but the paint I've got isn't looking right on that either,....................oh bum !!
I'd be inclined to go for the off-white, I think. Would help to pick it out with the bookshelves.
Jamiedodger - thanks for the pics. The chairs are going to look fab. At least you don't have to pull out 5,000 staples!
Kaz: lovely pics. You do have a good eye. Love the mannequin!

icandream- trouble is the off-white/stone colour I thought would be ok looks too 'white' really................so I've done one side in the jade colour and see what it dries out like.............can always paint over it but just had to try it to compare. I have got a cupboard in the recess in the corner opposite thats done in either jade or duck egg blue.........job to tell as I dark wax polished over the top put it would always link up with that.......I'll know better when its dry and I try it against the wall............off white -then turn it around to see what the jade looks like...............oh what a carry on. Don;t know how you lot manage to do things so quickly..........and so well !!:jMary

I finally figured out this flickr thingy bob - so here are a few photos of my shabby chic finds & projects
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25799742@N03/2425243530/ - a few bits & bobs. I was really pleased I managed to make my own stuffed heart
It all looks great... I have the same little mirror which I bought myself for christmas from laura ashley (sale of course:D ) - mines sitting in a drawer cos our bedroom is hideous and I couldn't think of anywhere else for it to go!!
Done nothing shabby this week!!! party bags went down a storm - and I still haven't taken the bunting down!! Photo below of it in dining room but I strung 20m of the stuff in playroom and not sure I want to take it down!!!

Is this the tailors dummy from next?
Why did i have to go and look:rolleyes: ??
Now I need one for my lounge........:p
How can I justify this - I'll have to do a car boot soon!! its a shame there are never codes for Next!!!0 -
If I sort of 'walk' you round my little room it might give a better idea...........open door (thats just me being daft)
left hand wall: bed settee cream/terracotta/duck egg blue pattern
Grandads bow fronted china cabinet in dark wood -don't have the heart to shabby chic' it I'm afraid.
That takes us to the corner..........now wall along near the window
off white bookcase
off white blanket box decorated with stencil design in duck egg blue/terracotta
cream storage boxes, canvas stackable ones (3)
next corner and along wall:
cupboard painted in duck egg blue or jade and dark polish sort of smeared on it. Above it cream shelves
filing cabinet (metal) painted in sort of brass/copper metalix paint
comp. desk dry brush painted in biscuit colour over cream to match built in bookcase at next corner
Last wall:
dark wood video shelf unit(very narrow) used as bookcase for diaries etc.
dark wood desk OH bought me one christmas (very old and underneath is grans oak bible box and some more cream canvas stacked boxes
Large rug is mixture of dark beige/mushroom, duck egg blue and terracotta.
So................bit of a mish mash of colours but they all seem to work somehow. Couple of sculpture things on the wall I painted with terracotta paint.
Walls are bottom half terracotta/top half mottled beige wallpaper
OH agrees to chuck out the little drawer thing........well pass it on to ex foster lad - I know he'll have it - jury still out on colour of plant trough.........one side is now white, the other the jade green.................lol
OH says it don't matter as only one side will show...................lol I could have hit him.....................lolMary

I've just ordered my new kitchen today (Ikea 21% off!!:j ) so when it's all fitted, decorated and all my collected shabby chic bits out I'll be able to post pics and join in with all the fabulous-ness on this thread!!
I'm so excited!! A lot of hard work coming up getting it all done but I can't wait until it is! It's going to be the kitchen of my dreams - almost!! ( if it was in a "country cottage" it would be exactly right but this in the next best thing!!)
