Thanks for that...........I've always got a problem with where to put shoes, especially the one's that get worn every day. Boots and sandals are upstairs and I don't have many of those (two of each) but 2 pairs of trainers, mine and OH's seem to live downstairs and end up on the floor. I'd love some sort of organiised thing for them but no idea where I'd put it.

We have a big basket in the open bit under the stairs and all the everyday shoes are thrown in there - bearing in mind there are 6 of us in here i keep having to have a clear out if the kids have swapped from trainers to shoes etc as there are often 15 pairs plus overflowing from it!! :rotfl:

I've adopted VP's suggestion and bought colourful plastic tubs from Homebase to shove under the stairs. Each child chose their own, and the shoe problem has disappeared as they know which is their tub. But it was around £20 for this option (but I can't tell you what a relief it's been).

I got my first 'proper' charity shop buy today!!

Got a gorgeous blue/white patchwork/floral single bed throw for £2.99!! I love it, i still cant get the hang of photos though so will keep trying, my comp.is so useless my 'smilies' wont even work now! :(

I also asked in both charity shops if they had any fabric to which they both replied 'um no not really if we do its out back/downstairs but probably not! I think they are both secret shabby chicers (sp?) and keeping it for themselves!!

Ive become addicted to looking for fabric too but find it so expensive i just bought the book Sew Pretty Homestyle so just want a big pile of fabrics to make loads of little things! Dont know if its allowed but if anyone knows of anywhere to get some nice fabrics to make things??

OHH MY SMILIES WORKED! HE HE

the quilt sounds like a good bargain.........well done and lucky you.

As for fabric..........out local charity shops sell any fabric, off cuts that people have donated after making curtains, that sort of thing. Maybe the different charity shops vary in what they sell though. Can only go by the ones around here.

I got some charity bargains today, which I will post some photos of later.

I was just wondering what you all do for shoe storage? My husband used some wooden wine cases to make me up a set of shelves, but it won't house even 1/4 of my shoe collection:eek: and we will have to get through a lot of wine before we can create another set of shelves like it (oh and I will try and post a photo of it).

So any ideas for anything that is free standing?

I have shoe racks from The Range - they are extendable and cost about £8 each I think. They stack too. I have a bit of a fetish for shoes and have about 62 pairs at the last count   so it can be a bit of a problem for me! They're good BUT they are out in the open in my bedroom and look a bit messy.

I was considering buying a single wardrobe and asking someone to fit shelves all the way down for me to house them all.
