How fab is that! I love it. Have to keep my eyes open and find one to do myself!

I don't think there's any danger of this thread dying - I can't keep up with it! :rotfl:I love the ribbon on the curtain - simple, but effective.
And you can never have too much fabric.

Here's a pic for you, as we're looking at chairs (love them, by the way). This is a chair I was going to freecycle, but because of this thread I am now wondering whether I could shabbychic up. This was a longer term project, but this thread has got me going again. Problem is, it came from a pub selling off these for £3, and the fabric is welded on and I can't see how to recover it. Any ideas, or should I get shot of it?

Good heavens I would keep it, it's a lovely shape.

Well, I'm exhausted all of the time, but I'm also trapped in because of the kids. And the buzz I get from the small projects I do is incredible. And I find this thread really does motivate me. Take the chair...it was seriously in my thinking... that I'll do this in 5 years time... or never. But I'm itching to get going. The bag, seriously, took 2 hours last night, and I felt refreshed afterwards. Does that help? Pick something small for starters. I promise it'll be great fun - I did fabric hearts with the kids last week (well, a fabric boat with my son) and they all enjoyed it and they are decorating the kitchen cupboards now. (edited to say, not the kids decorating the cupboards, slave labour!, the hearts and boat!)

NE girl: that sounds sooooo scary. Would this work? The braiding at the edge I can't imagine getting loose. As it was so cheap, I'm kind of inclined to give it a go, but I'm very nervous.

go on!! you wont know unless you try and as you said you were going to get rid of it anyway you might as well butcher it first! :rotfl: How many chairs do you have? If its just the one then its no loss as you gave it a go and nothing could be done to it but if you have another then you can do as much as you can and learn as you go on the first one then push it as far as you can in prep for the next one..... go on, go for it!! :D

Okay, very tempted. It is the only one - I got another as they were so cheap, but that's quite different. I love the shape, but it's been well used and needs something doing to it. If I slice away, what do I do after that. How would I make a pattern, and reattach a piece and what do I stuff it with? Also, how would I get a neat edge?

  • ICANDREAM.....I love the chair, I've seen similar shaped ones on ebay go for silly money, i.e. £150 ish. They're called French Valbone (?) or something.

I'd paint it in a grey white shade or creamy colour and just have a bash at ripping off the fabric and replacing.

Okay, will start by ripping the yukky pub fabric off with a stanley knife, but I'm going to need advice on how to go after that! Watch this space :rotfl:

Please could I have some help from those of you who have made the shoulder bag - I'm embarrased to admit it but I'm stuck:o

On step 3 it says 'Then square off the corners by pinching each one out, then sewing straight across about an inch from the corner's edge. Trim excess.' Sorry but I just don't understand that bit - can someone try to explain it to me?

Also I expected the bottom of the bag to be straight across but for some reason mine has come out curved, even though the paper pattern was cut straight:confused:. Dunno what I've done wrong.

Feel like a bit of a twit as everyone else has managed to make the bag without struggling, I'm not a great sewer though:rolleyes:

    Hope someone can help
