seakay -thanks for the notebook cover instructions.....
rose_sparky - they're not big enough for seat cushions. They're sort of place mat size but if we used them for that, being the messy household we are, they wouldn't last above one meal..................lol

Least now I've got some choices to go at.

Love the unit but says 5 days to go.............be interesting to see how much it fetches............would be a dust gatherer though. Mind you most things in our house are................might help if I dusted............lol

Love this thread, lots of tips and ideas and lots of lovely pictures.
It's got me started ! Just rescued a small pine three shelf wall unit from my cousin's shed. I gave it to him about 20 years ago, goodness knows what he's had stored on it - it's certainly going to take lots of sanding and more than one coat of paint to make it chic and less shabby than it is now.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I've been looking around for stuff to paint.................lol OH has said I can paint the kitchen cupboard doors and the free standing cupboard (how kind of him to let me do it all...............lol )
Also got a wooden tray my Dad made many many years ago.............been debating what to do with that and still not too sure, and a plant trough, very 1950-60's on thin legs, first hubby made it and at the minute its a hot spot for all sorts of junk..............really must get my thinking cap on.

Mentioned making some sort of wall hanging out of my place mats and OH said that was just what he was thinking of.............now.......how to do it, thats the next thing.............. I can only think of attaching them to tape down each side with a loop at the top of the tape to thread over a piece of dowelling.

    Today's charity shop finds!

This is a pair of curtains for £2 - I shall use the material for something!!

    checkmat.jpg

Again will use the material from this - a single duvet cover for £1

    floralmat.jpg

Then I bought a HUGE brand new natural colour throw. It was £1 so I fell into the trap of buying it because it was SUCH a bargain, but now I don't know what to do with it! It has lovely big tassles on each corner. Any suggestions welcome - I don't need it to cover a sofa or anything, or for my bed ...

so suggestions would be gratefully received!!!!

bibbly- if you've already got throws keep it as a spare or so you can ring the changes in your lounge.........same in the bedroom............wall hanging if you've got a wall that has something needs covering up...................or cut it into curtains.........................minds gone blank now..............lol

Real good bargains there ...................I got some curtains for the kitchen last week £2.50...........all I have to do is turn them up (our windows a weird size).............not too sure when I'll get round to it but they look almost unused and a lot brighter than the curtains I've got.

  • sorry i havent been here in a while, but i have been sooooo busy with work, i am now moving to a bigger unit in may, so my head is in the shed at mo....plus i got to do a drastic cull in my stock that i have hoarded, plus over the last week or so i have had some beautifull items in...vintagepleasure i have also had some more barkcloth in ...:D

i have just finished painting my dumb waiter, so waiting for that to dry, and then i am going to have a look for some nice wallpaper to line it,
    Ooh more barkcloth!!!

NEgirl & vintagepleasure - thanks for the ideas. I did think about framing one of each but I've got so many pictures on my walls already............
Wondered about adding them to a plain cushion but we've got a rather ancient cat who I'm sure would make aim for them
Cover for a notebook sounds possible................not sure how I'd do it..........pva glue do you think ?
I get the feeling OH would like them on show somewhere and as they're blue and the only 'blue room' is our bedroom which is blue and cream.
Loads of pictures in there already but there are two I've just thought of that my son did years ago, charcoal drawings............do look a bit out of place.
Ummmmmmmmmm............got me thinking now. Also got a couple of bedside cupboards ........wonder if they would fit on the door.......a sort of panel ???
Have to consult with OH with this lot I think. I know if I mentioned cushions on the bed he'd freak out...................lol
If you can sew then I know a good tutorial you can use.If not then you could try using that iron on stuff (vilene) that is used for applique.I think it would work.PVA would make the fabric stiff and might mark it.

Maybe you could try quilting them a bit so they are more sturdy?
