Can anyone tell me the prices of the bedspreads currently in Aldi, might venture across town tomorrow and see if any in stock TIA
The doubles were £19.99 and the king size £24.99. All sold out where we are. Just had the pillow shams left.

My Mum has a huge mangle in her back garden! She got it from a tip I think, painted and restored it and it now has plants and flowers growing from it! It's lovely and always gets commented on!

here's a question for you lot - does anyone know if there is anything to do with black ash!! yeah i know its wrong full stop!! but i have a filing cabinate in my spare room (ideal for the purpose and i dont want to loose it) but it is completley at odds with anything else in the room.
if no one has any ideas its not a problem as this usefull bit of furniture holds documents i would not want visitor using as bedtime reading so it would be swapped with one of my bedside cabinates when the room is used!

it would just be nice to loose the black if possible - any advice?

I'm no expert but from reading other threads on here, prepare it with ESP (easy surface prep) and then paint cream on top, probably 2 or 3 coats cos its black. You could then cover the drawer fronts with LA/CK type sticky back plastic or paint those cream too, depending on what look you want to achieve. And then put some nice handles on.
it defintaely can be done, and as you say its servicable so why get rid of.

I am no expert, far from it, but thanks to the inspiration and expertise from the lovely people on here, I just done my first project: repaint a filing cabinet.

I bought one from the recyclers, but is was grey metal not wood like yours, I sprayed it with spray primer first and then spray painted it in a lovely light blue colour. I did see in the DIY store that you can get spraypaint for wood too so maybe that is an option? It was really easy to do, my two teenagers helped. A couple of thin coats was needed but it looks so good now.
Thanks to everyone for their inspiration:T

No, haven't posted a picture, only finished the cabinet yesterday (well the paint was dry yesterday to move back into the house from the garage.) didn't know if a filing cabinet came under the title chabby chic but will post a picture if I can find out why the teenager nicked the batteries out of the camera and what she has done with them.

Located the batteries, and here is the picture. I was so excited to start I forgot to take a before picture, but believe me it wasn't pretty.

Next project, if I feel brave is to repaint that tongue in groove behind the cabinet. No idea on what kind of paint and what colour etc, will have to re-read the thread for ideas and tips

wow it's certainly looking cool now! Very funky! Love the little jug on top too.

I would imagine the tongue and groove would love fabulous painted a creamy colour but I have no experience of anything like that, so will wait for someone with more experience to reply to you!

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with an ornamental wooden bird cage? It is already painted white/distressed. I think I bought it to put a display of candles in, but beyond that/putting a plant in it, I am stuck for ideas.
