I have been desperate for a mangle since they had one on a campsite we stayed at when I was about 8 years old. I spent most of the holiday feeding tea towels and dish cloths through the mangle :p  :D Whenever we go to museums and they have mangles I can't resist having a go :rotfl:

    Oo me too!
There was one on the caravan site we stayed on in Devon which was still used. I used to go and wash my Tiny Tear's clothes just so I could use it! I loved that mangle! :T

But I bought this cooker on ebay last year - it's older than I am and cooks like a dream. I used to have a Stoves range cooker but this is even better. All my friends think I'll be getting a mangle next!

    I love it:)

Thank you :) I started from scratch, ripped off all the fabrics, sanded it down and worked up from there. 4 layers of paint with sanding in between meant that i could make a start on the fabric.....i had bought the stud strips to use on the writers bureau but got so excited about this project that i now have to buy some more! :rotfl: Ebay is a godsend! It needed something to finish it off so i made the little green cushion and stitched some mother of pearl buttons onto it :)

It is absolutely stunning, well done you, you must be so proud of it.

OMG, this bought back memories! My dad had exactly the same one when we were small. One day while cooking my mum noticed litttle black bits floating around the kitchen and on closer inspection revealed my school recorder melting away inside the oven....my brother had hidden it in there. Obviously didn't like my tunes!

here's a question for you lot - does anyone know if there is anything to do with black ash!! yeah i know its wrong full stop!! but i have a filing cabinate in my spare room (ideal for the purpose and i dont want to loose it) but it is completley at odds with anything else in the room.
if no one has any ideas its not a problem as this usefull bit of furniture holds documents i would not want visitor using as bedtime reading so it would be swapped with one of my bedside cabinates when the room is used!

it would just be nice to loose the black if possible - any advice?

My aunty had an electric mangle in the late 60s, my naughty curious cousin put his arm into it:eek: luckily it wasn't broken and neither was his arm;)
