Hi I have been admiring all your handy work for a while now and would love to join this thread....I have just purchased a little oak dresser from ebay and would be very grateful for any tips on the bast way to paint it. I was thinking of using satinwood but dont want it to all scratch off!!
what do you think? And do I need to sand it first....all advice gratefully recieved:D
Hi bertiebots, welcome to the thread:D. I will leave someone else to give advice re painting your dresser as I'm still relatively new to it myself, but I think general advice is to give it a light sanding so as to provide a 'key' for the paint, then clean thoroughly with either a sugar soap solution or white spirit, then some people put a coat of primer on and some don't! before going ahead with the satinwood coat. From what I understand, preparation is the most important thing (something I'm not very good at, being impatient:rotfl:).

I had to take off all the old pins and fabric so was left with a bare canvas.
The fabric was quite easy once i got to grips with it (no pun intended!) I just started at one corner and pinned it down then folded under a little hem and pinned at i went - i just kept pulling it to make sure there were no major creases or ripples in the fabricWin £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012
