  • I have an antique bird cage in my dining room we did buy it to put candles in it, but for some reason it didn't quite work. I have now put delicate little flower fairy lights in it - but then I like retro and kitsch aswell as the shabby chic side of things.

I really like what you have done with the fiiling cabinet mumoftwo, we have a metal one in our house from when my husband used to live on his own. It is a horrid shade of green (and that is saying something, because I love green) so I may have to pay a visit to my local DIY store to pick up some spray paint later.:rotfl:
Anyone fancy buying my degree? It will only cost you £18k.

  • Oooh just wanted to add I rewatched the film 'The Holiday' again last night. And both the houses on this side of the Ocean were very shabby chic and sad as it is I got some great inspiration.

Located the batteries, and here is the picture. I was so excited to start I forgot to take a before picture, but believe me it wasn't pretty.

    that looks really good :T

I've two metal cabinets with shallow A3 drawers for my binding and laminating stuff as well as various types of paper, card etc. You've convinced me that I should paint these and I reckon that by putting a piece of wood across the top of them, I can have a worktop for my binder and laminator, and possibly the trimmer too..... and maybe space underneath for the shredder ....... hmmmmm possibilities...... ;)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with an ornamental wooden bird cage? It is already painted white/distressed. I think I bought it to put a display of candles in, but beyond that/putting a plant in it, I am stuck for ideas.

I just had to nip over to my mums house and snap this for you... Talk about about the smug little cat that got the [strike]cream[/strike] birdy....:D

My Mum has a huge mangle in her back garden! She got it from a tip I think, painted and restored it and it now has plants and flowers growing from it! It's lovely and always gets commented on!

Hello all, I'm sure some clever person will be able to help me! Please can you tell me where I can buy some small butchers hooks? I've seen them used to display cups/mugs and I want to do the same :) Thanks x
    IKEA sell them.

But I bought this cooker on ebay last year - it's older than I am and cooks like a dream. I used to have a Stoves range cooker but this is even better. All my friends think I'll be getting a mangle next!
Wow I just love it.I wish my hubby would let me buy old appliances but he insists on new ones.I have to let him have his way sometimes!
