We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Thought you might like to see my latest effort (3rd sewing effort ever!) at "shabby chic" gifts. This is for a friend of mine. I stuffed it with the inside bits of an old cushion (as suggested by someone here!) and dropped some fragranced oils onto it to make it smell nice.

    I really like it
Wouldn't pay Laura Ashley prices though:p

Just though I'd let you all know that I've started on my 'retro' bathroom (with the avocado suite and brown flowery tiles:confused: ). I've repainted the walls in a more subtle colour (they were apple green!!) and have prepped the woodwork. I couldn't take 'before' pics as the digital camera needs a new battery, but will take an 'after' pic. Then stand back and await judgement:p

I uncovered some interesting ( )brown patterned tiles under the old carpet.

To the person talking about varnishing their dresser (can't remember who it was) - I painted my kitchen cupboards with Dulux satin wood (about 4 years ago now) and left it at that and they've been fine.

I love it! I wouldn't pay Laura Ashley prices though.I'd love to find some original furniture that was that distressed.

Interesting to see the Laura Ashley site - gives a good feeling when you know you have achieved a similar look with a piece of furniture for far less! AND I think you have much more of a connection with pieces you have decorated yourself.

I noted that the heading for one of the roomsets was "Summer House" - does anyone here have a summerhouse which has had a similar treatment? I painted mine cream inside, it's carpeted with ex-dining room carpet and I have photos on the walls - am about to make some roll-up blinds from a remnant.

Just wondering - now that the sunshine 's out.

Ooh, no I don't like it at all.

Is it just me who thinks their prices are absolutely ridiculous? I mean I know that it's nice quality but HOW can they justify those prices?

  • Can anyone remember who had the sofa with the lovely rosy patchwork cover? I have a very boring blue armchair that I would love to brighten by doing something similar.
