Hopefully at last my photo will appear. The dresser top was sanded down and beeswaxed, as were the handles. The whole piece of furniture had originally been laquered and had turned an awful orangey pine. Used F&B Ringwold Ground oil-based eggshell (3 coats) - delighted with finish.

Oh you are all so clever. The dresser and kitchen units look lovely. Csarina love the kettle on the cooker, can i be nosey and ask if you know which pattern it is please. All the shabby chic rooms look so welcoming and comfortable, how a real home should look and feel.

The kettle is very old, it was called autumn or hawthorn and came from M & S...................

I've loved seeing all the photos and think the throws everyone has look great BUT I hated them when I used them in my house! No matter how much I tucked and pinned they always looked a mess as soon as they were sat on! I gave up in the end and made a fitted cover - shan't be doing that job again in a hurry:eek:

I think you're all very clever and it does my heart good to see so many cosy homes. Well done :T :T

I think you are so clever making covers for your sofa. I am hopeless and cannot sew.:o
I have a beautiful large french linen bed sheet that I want to have made into pillow cases and I am thinking of having them made for me as I am worried I will make a mess of them. But that's not very moneysaving is it! I do admire people who can make things.

maypole, you really should have a go! Pillowcases are one of the easiest things you can make and Im sure you will not make a mess of it!
Practice first on some cheap fabric until you are happy with the result or unpick an old cheap pillowcase and use that as a template.
Or try here for a free pattern!

Thank you ebaybaby, using an old one as a template is a good idea. I know it really should be simple enough... famous last words eh! :rotfl:

;) You will never know just how close I was to ditching this dresser in its orangey yukky knotty pine state! Since painting it, I've seen a similar item locallyfor about £600!!!!

But .. yes you would be first in line ... it may be a long wait.

Thanks to everyone this thread has given me a kick up the backside to do some of the projects that I have always promised myself to do and not got around to.

I now have no excuse now I have paint. Just need some fabric and I am on my way to getting two projects completed (fingers crossed) by the end of the weekend.

And hope to get some photos to show you as well.

    Yours
