My Farrow & Ball stuff has arrived and the colours are lovely. I love the names!

We are in the process of getting our house ready for the market. Our own suite is very worn and old fashioned - bought second hand years ago - so we've ordered two sofas from an internet company. They are cheap, but we are working to a tight budget. They look ok on the screen and I had a long chat on the phone with the people there - they arrive on the 22nd. The new downstairs floor coverings arrive on the 18th - now, here's the thing - the suite goes to the YMCA shop today.

Anyone doing the sums can work out that we are two weeks with no seating. Out with the camping chairs, one of which was severly chewed by a mouse when we had an infestation in the garage a few years ago.

In the midst of this I am trying not to choose colours for any new house in case it puts a hex on selling this one. The F&B colour chart is making life very hard at the moment. DH is taking a keen interest in the shabby chic, colours and kitchens - something new that makes me realise how keen he is about the new 'retirement' 'dream' house.:o

I was just thinking this morning as I tidy up that I have an authentically very dusty (just can't get rid of the stuff!) house.. I wonder does that add to my shabby chic kudos? :D :rotfl: :D

I've no idea how to post photos!

The base units we painted with F & B Green Blue No 84 and the wall units we painted in Clunch 2009. We also painted the walls with Clunch Modern Emulsion.

We did this because I previously painted a very orangey pine dresser base (dining room) Ringwold Ground, keeping the pine knobs and top which were sanded back and beeswaxed. Although I should point out that our wooden cupboards (1970s) were a kind of teak looking wood. However, we're pleased with how they have come out. They needed thorough sanding and about 3 coats of paint. Although F & B SEEMS expensive it goes a very long way and is lovely to use.

Now we need to replace the flooring and I need to get on with making the Roman Blind.
  • Loving this thread. I now need to work out how to justify buying this. Sorry, the website won't let me post the pic directly.

  • Right as promised photo's :)

This is my rather small hallway, it is still looking pretty bare, I am on the look out for metal signs and such like to cheer it up a little.

A few items in my kitchen, I find these storage jars from Tesco invaluable at just 0.99p each.

Another few of my favourite pieces in the kitchen, these are awaitng a permanent home once all the decorating is finished!

This is my wall unit from Ikea in the dining room, it houses my honey pots, cow creamers etc, I am thinking of lining the back of the cupboard display with some Laura Ashley paper.

Another item of furmitre from Ikea, this is a tall bereau with pull out draw, it houses all my craft stuff in the dining room.

The dining room is currently under construction :) we have just had the wall put back up and I am decorating over the next 2 days.
