  • I just wanted to say thank you for all your kind comments about our home.I noticed a bit of traffic coming to my blog from here so have had a nosey! It amazes and flatters me when people stop and have a look around and then like what they see. So thank you! xxx
P.S. I forgot to say have a look at my Flickr set if you like http://www.flickr.com/photos/vintage_pleasure/sets/72057594079034198/ we have been renovating for about four years now on a fairly tight budget. We very rarely pay full price for anything and lots of things are thrifted. When we were doing the kitchen just by shopping around we saved over £7000!!! If you have any questions just leave a comment on the photos and I'll get back to you!

Makes it all worth while doesn't it VP :) I love the fact that there are so many people that do not follow the trend with brown and cream everything thrown together with leather and suede making the home look like an argos display page :)

I love the vintage/shabby style! I have always loved collecting eclectic pieces that just make you smile when you walk into a room.

I got to homebase and got farrow and ball paint as suggested and there was one colour on the clearance section for £6.50 and they also had some small cream baskets for 99p each. Can't find them on-line at the moment. So I got a few.

Just need to paint it, get some new fabric and foam and a new handle on the front and I will have a new storage stool. It was free to start with anyway.

I am sure that it will look nice.

    Yours

    Calley

  • Hello all

This is a great thread and is giving me some good ideas. Does anyone have any experience of painting pine kitchen cupboards. I'm a bit scared of starting as if it turned out a mess it would be a very expensive mess as all doors would have to be replaced!!!

    Hello Vintagepleasure

What a lovely surprise to see your post. Your house is GORGEOUS but what I am interested in is the bedroom with the Autumnal light, I love everything about that, I wish we could see more of it. I am looking for inspiration for my own bedroom which faces north west and looks over the North sea. I would love to know the paint and carpet colours you have used and also where you got the FABULOUS chest of drawers.

There is another post on here somewhere, someone used Farrow and ball OIL Eggshell to paint furniture. It is really good paint in heritage colours.

We're just in the process of painting our kitchen units with Farrow and Ball oil eggshell and are delighted with the results.
