I'd suggest hammerite - you can get matte versions. Wilko's or any DIY store should stock it!

    Too lovely to paint!

But if you want to I wonder if some kind of spray paint would be best? it might give a smoother more durable finish.

If you have a crafting friend who owns a *crop o dile* that instrument can punch holes in it too for decoration.

Just checked ... offeroftheday and Tesco Direct have some fab mirrors reduced. My fave is a Venetian style mirror 50cm X 40 cm reduced to £16.25. Take a look !

Thanks for that list kisto, and for listing my blog on it :T hopefully once I'm in the new flat (4 weeks and counting....) I'll be updating a lot more.

It's not quite shabby chic, but I discovered last night that anthropologie are now doing international shipping! I fell in love with so many things in the shops when I was in New York, but couldn't practically bring a lot of them home with me. I had a browse around last night but the shipping and taxes came to £35  which isn't very MSE....as they're quite shabby chic I wondered if any of you lovely people had spotted anything similar to either of these on your travels? They don't have to be the same colour, just a similar shape/design.

ETA: The bowls are small cereal bowls, not a mixing bowl.

I got a set of three candles in glasses ( mother's day gift ) in Tesco today reduced to £1.25 for the set - the glasses are probably smaller than these ( they are about 8cm tall, 6cm diameter )and they are clear glass but similar sort of design.
