Congratulations rachellblondell :T :T :T
CoolTrikerChick - I find a lot of the shabby-chic stuff is right out of my price range so its a case of making the best of what I can find round the second hand shops. Amazing what you can find.0 -

I'll try and post a few photos.
love to see some pics... my little sewing box that i had when i was about 10 is totally had it..lol... so i think a pic of the old sewing box on legs might give me some ideas....i also have my step father's mother's old singer sewing machine the hand operated one.. it never got converted to electric... if i could find a nice singer table for it t go one.. might be able to use it as a working feature so to speak, as my electric sewing machine ( which was had for free from a charity shop due to it not being tested) is up my work unit...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thanks, vintagepleasure - my daughter is so excited about the idea. I'll give this a go.
Unfortunately I never never see vintage wallpaper in charity shops. However, my mum, bless her, has just started working in one, so maybe she could keep an eye out for me.
I am so inspired by this thread - have rescued a mirror from the car boot decluttering pile and am currently painting it in eggshell. Kids are tidying their rooms as a mum's day treat! So all calm in the cluttered up aspiring-shabby chic dream household.
Great that your mum is working on the inside so to speak!!If I had more time I would definitely volunteer as I know that so much stuff never even makes it inot the shop.Such a shame.0 -

I thought I'd try and show you a photo of a cupboard I painted a while ago.It cost £5 and is Victorian the glass is beautifully rippled and catches the light. It's full of vintage glasses that I've picked up over the years.I never pay more than 20p each for them.We use them everyday and most even go in the dishwasher. As they are a mis-matched collection breakages really don't get noticed and I just pick up a few more.Any excuse to thrift!0 -
i would love to work in a charity shop.. as you just know that they are defo taking all the good stuff before it gets out onto the shop floor !!!!!!!!
