Ellidee, I like the idea of decoupage!!!
so do I .....not sure where I could get cheap metal bin from .......also to make it fit under the desk it would help if it were rectangle in shape. Am going to be near an au naturel soon , may look thereWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
The thing about using a metal bin is that if it's cheap but hideous it doesn't matter as long as the inside is a nice colour. Same for anything that can be 'done up' I suppose !Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Ikea do really nice bins, they are cream enamel and shaped like old fashioned metal dustbins used to be and they come with a lid and everything, I forget how much they are though...
Here it goes:

I think they are lovely!M.A.C.A.W member number 39

I have to say her kitchen is simple but to die for.............:p0 -
The whole house is lovely, but it wouldn't look so hot if my 3 kids were let loose in it for a few daysHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0

It's lovely, but I couldn't go for so much white, I'd need a bit more colour... don't think I could manage such minimalism either :eek:M.A.C.A.W member number 39

I got really heavily into decoupage a few years ago. I still use a chair I did which I love.
I discovered that if you do something like a bookcase and use cheap flatpack furniture - paint it before putting it together. This gives the basecoat and makes life much easier.
I also started with buying special pictures, but I moved on to wrapping paper. It's possible to buy wonderful wrapping paper in any style you want to use.
I used the glue from Early Learning as it was the cheapest place to buy it. Before sticking pics on I tested the designs by using a tiny bit of white, blue tack to make the pattern up. This gives great flexibility in getting the design you like.
I used a lot of the tester pots for small things.
Boot sales are good places for things to decoupage. Do watch out for woodworm holes. Even if they look defunct, pass it by. Not worth the risk.http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z-VUQS__6Pw
