  • rachelblondell i love your blog... you've inspired me to paint the beureau that my mum has given me.. ive had my doubts about it because i feel its to dark but now after seeing yours painted im going to follow suit!!!

once ive done it i'll post a picture of it see if you approve!

i love the cupboard aswell with the blackboard paint.. a very good idea!!!

i liked looking at the photos.. has anyone else got photos of their shabby chic homes.. it would brighten up my boring afternoon in work no end!!
  • Look forward to seeing the bureau Charley make sure you post a photo...

and afraid I have to totally disagree with you on the F&B front Austin Allegro you buy cheap paint you get a cheap finish and you'll be repainting it before you know it, so in the long run you'll be paying more.....so way I see it if you've got a free piece of furniture & saved quite a few pounds on that why not spend a few more on wonderful paint.

As for where to buy F&B check the website and it will tell you where your nearest stockist is, homebase (they will also order in colours not in stock) or failing that buy online postage isn't too bad.....

The kitchen has various items tat I love, dining room is almost done just needs repainting now we have had the wall put back and my bedroom is plainish with white walls and white wood floors, ikea olde worlde scandanavian furniture and fresh white linen.

Ah, that would be very cool Norma!

I would never want to be cruel to animals, but I would quite like to have a big set of antlers on a wooden plaque for my house (after I saw one in a shabby chic type shop in amongst all the other goodies, and it looked fab with that kind of stuff).

I'm sure you could get some naturally shed antlers from somewhere (that'd be a good one to 'Google'!) and perhaps fix them to an old shield/plaque?
Should cost next to nothing too?

I love the shabby chic look but no one else in my family does so to please them I've gone along with what they wanted, well in the main anyway. Consequently we have beech wood furniture, cream walls and coffee coloured suede type sofas etc. but I just don't feel comfy in the house. I want to snuggle on a chintz sofa and have pine furniture...my house is just too modern for me...BUT not anymore. After reading this thread I've decided that when it needs replacing I'm going to replace it with what I want. Most of the time the children are out anyway and I think I could persuade OH. Well if I'm happy it benefits him. This is how I'll sell it to him anyway. lol Love all the posts on here. So inspiring. Thanks.Luvz Dizzy x

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

I wonder if anyone can help.......I need two waste paper bins for our office/study area at home. As its in the room off the kitchen that leads to the livingroom I want it to look attractive but at the same time I'd like it to be cheapish.....any ideas anyone?
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Hi vivw how about buying some cheap metal bins and covering them with wrapping paper or wall paper then varnishing them ? Bit like decoupage IYSWIM.

I'm looking for ideas myself Viv, hope to be moving soon (I keep saying it but I really think it might happen this time!).

I'm going shabby country and I've decided that for an 'office' waste paper bin I'd like something like this on the country cream website http://www.countrycream.co.uk/product/19fe8160-d1cc-40de-95b1-e43b8faf7ca4.aspx
I'd make it myself to match my colour scheme, and in a fairly heavy fabric. The other option I was thinking of was a basket of some sort (not a waste paper basket, but something more country - shopping basket maybe)
not sure if thats any help ;)
