I would probably use them in my kitchen or utility for storage. You could even stack them on theirs sides and use them as shelves. It depends how big they are but if you made a lid you could pad it and make little stools.
If they have printing on the side I wouldn't paint them. You could use a light colour wash with diluted emulsion so you could still see the lettering. Even a coat of wax would be nice.
Very jealous as they have been on my thrifting wishlist forever!
"vintage" I think you could be an interior designer, you have such ideas. I have to just copy things:o0 -

ooh go for it - i won one last night which dh is picking up today!!
If the room doesnt get much light i would go for an almost white colour (not sure what the actual colour is but its a slight grey tinge to it sure its f&b paint), sand it down first and paint it with a diluted white emulsion to make sure the top coat will stick properly. If its a light colour with no specific 'colour' in it you can mix and match the accessories to go on it and youre not tied if you want to change things around later

Thanks for the link katiekoo - I didn't even know about that. I can see me making a trip there some time!
I bought 3 lovely cream throws in a charity shop today. 2 were £2.50 each and 1 was £1.50 because it has a hole in it. I've uploaded some pics to my picasa album along with my other charity shop finds for you to see my discoveries:

Since I took the photos this morning, I keep finding other charity shop purchases I forgot to photograph so I'll add them at some point too!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -

Hi Charley
My house is horribly dark & dank and when we first moved in made the mistake of trying to lighten everything with pure white emulsion... that just made it cold looking dark & dank. After various colour changes I have found that a greyish taupe colour is best and have used cornforth white (f&b) but I know Kelly Hopen does some lovely taupe colours too.simplicity is key0 -
rachelle i wonder if thats the colour i was talking about as it looks an off white/tinge of grey *goes to check the f&b website*Win £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012
