  • so can we get back to open shelving in the kitchen!!!!!!!!....

what are the best type of shelves ?/.. they would have to be somthing quite strong wouldnt they ..to hold lots of jars and tins etc.

i dont want it to look to cluttered and messy.. im having a little wibble about taking down my cupboards incase it looks a right old cluttered mess !!!!!!
My shelves are actually the third lot.First ones had a gap at the back and I couldn't display plates. So they went in my daughters room.Second ones couldn't take the weight so I replaced the supports.I got them from IKEA and have used three supports. Now they could hold an elephant! Hi everyone! - I posted earlier on in the thread, but its moving so fast, on an evening when I log in, there's about 5 pages to get through! - So here is what Iv'e done so far (mainly inspired by this thread)

    * Bought a copy of Rachel Ashwells 'Shabby Chic * Bought a pine cabinet off Ebay and painted it in one of the crown heritage colours (they don't sell F & B near me:confused: ) * Swapped my ugly chrome utensil holder for a cream ceramic one, which matches my 'Tea, Coffee, Sugar' canisters * Stripped a large bedroom which will be the room my little girl moves into - bought a Laura Ashley bedspread off Ebay which will be the basis for the scheme

Jobs still to do:- Paint white all the ugly antique pine tongue and groove which boxes in the underneath of the stairs.
Make a roman blind for my pantry

went to TK Maxx today. And they had only what I can call shabby chic chairs in cream colour with bits of colour removed to make it looked worn cost from £59.99

Also has Le Creuest in different colours and even heart shaped ramkins for £2.99

Also wilkinsons have their own make of plasti-kote and it is about £2 cheaper than the real stuff. Not such a good choice of colours.

  • Mmmmmmmmm

I am now thinking of turning them upside down, painting them and adding some script writing, then padding the top with lovely fabric and using them as hall seats?

Or..........Paint them, apply motifs/writing and line with fabric and use them as giant storage baskets for something?

Or depending on the design on the chest leave them blank :)
