On *Britians best homes* (used to be on BBC I think) someone once used one of those tea chests at the end of their bed as a tv stand.. looked pretty darn fantastic I thought!M.A.C.A.W member number 39

Hi Natlou
Wher abouts in North Yorkshire are you????? I live in the Southern Dales between Settle & Ingelton.....Are you Dales side or Moors side cause if your Dales side there's lots of F&B stockists...did you do a search on the site you'll be suprised how many places come up. Rx
Ps lets have some photos your projects sound very interesting:cool:simplicity is key0 -

It sounds wonderful......just the sort of place I'd love to live in.We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Right I have just been freecycled 2 largish tea chests, what shall I do with them?? lol
I would probably use them in my kitchen or utility for storage. You could even stack them on theirs sides and use them as shelves. It depends how big they are but if you made a lid you could pad it and make little stools.
If they have printing on the side I wouldn't paint them. You could use a light colour wash with diluted emulsion so you could still see the lettering. Even a coat of wax would be nice.
Very jealous as they have been on my thrifting wishlist forever!0 -

F and B do mail order though you know?Just check their website. They are very reliable too.It is sometimes cheaper than the petrol and parking depending on how far you have to go and how much you want.Sometimes the little tester pots are enough.0 -
well yesturday i had a good day and a bad day for finding bits for my kitchen...
first of all in the morning i found a 1930's mid green curtain with beautifull embroided detail... a great contrast to the green i am usingin the kitchen, and as there was only one curtain... i thought i would use it to replace one of the kitchen cupboard doors.... so i put it in the weashing machine..( why i never know..i allways wash vintage items by hand ) when it came out of the washing machine it was full of holes:eek: the material must have has some very delicate spots so to speak.... was really disapointed... well gutted really....
then in the afternoon.... i came across a thick cotton woven rug by laura ashley part of the chloe range....:D with like pastel pinks etc.... that needs a good scrub too, but i am sure that will fair well in the washing machine...:D
also found a pastel green table cloth with a sort of damask style desin. with matchin cloth place mats... ok my kitchen talbe is round, and the table cloth is square....but hayho... they came out of the ragbags people were quite prepared for them to go to landfill.....
didnt managed to go to carboot this morning... as my day has been re-arranged... but might call into a local junk/charity shop later... which this shop never throws anything out.... even if its broken.. its a proper aladin's cave of carp..really but ideal for the fixer upper.. or re-vamp person..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Yes, F&B do mail order, I have had sample tins delivered and I am not even sure if I paid postage, but better check.0
