Sounds amazing, thanks so much Pip!
So far the jumper is left front, sleeves, and back. I'm waiting for the wool to come back in stock before doing right front and pockets, then will definitely be posting pictures here, there and everywhere.Mortgage start date: 01/10/2021

I always like to knit my cardigans with several bits on the go at once: get the fronts and back to where you start shaping, see how the wool is going, maybe do the bulk of the sleeves (together these days), then assess whether I'm going to make it or not.
And when I thought I'd be short on the mohair I did, I did the ribbing and bands in one colour and the rest of it in a different colour. I think I might have had enough of the main colour, but it was early days, and I think I prefer it that way.

I’ve been thinking about your socks, over the last few days. I’m currently knitting “frankensocks” for myself. Years ago, I bought two 100g balls of Lang Super Soxx, one in blue shades and one in grey. The blue became a pair of socks for DH and the grey a pair for me. Beyond size, the only difference in their appearance is the colour. (Sadly, today, I can’t load the photo directly to this thread. I’m on an iPad and it’s always hit and miss for photos on the MSE Forums.)
Anyway, I had 20g left of the blue and 35g of the grey. I’ve been itching to use it up. My standard socks use 63g-65g of 4-ply. Since I only had 55g, I thought that, if I shortened the leg by 15 rows, did the cuffs, heels and toes in the grey, then alternated between the two colours row-by-row, I should have enough to make another pair of socks. I’ve just started the toe of the first sock. It’s not gone according to plan. I began getting worried about the quantity of the blue, so stopped using it 15 rows into the gusset. (There’s 10g left.) Ten rows into the foot, I started panicking about the grey...
Rummaging through the stash, I found the unlabelled end of another grey/black/white shaded sock yarn - maybe 5g - and alternated rows with that for 24 rounds. I think I’ve got enough to do the same on the second sock, but I won’t know for certain until I finish the toe on the first one and can weigh everything.
Wish me luck.

You could do plain cuffs, heels and toes. That's what I do if there's not quite enough yarn for a second pair.2

You have my sympathy. I picked up a couple of random balls of what I think is sock wool, and decided to knit a pair of 'summer socks'. One ball was longer than the other (I weighed them) and I'm trying a new heel method where you put a contrast row in where you want the heel to be, then pick up those stitches in the round and shape it.
So I'm doing the toe of one atm, I'm not sure there will be enough for the other toe, and I'm sure the heels will be 'odd'!Signature removed for peace of mind2 -
The pattern I usually use uses about 55 gram for a size 6 sock so I try to keep some plain grey sock yarn in so will make a pair with plain cuffs etc for me with the leftover yarn.
If I'm doing socks for the men in the family I'll buy 2 100gr balls and that will do 3 pairs. I hate wasting yarn. I also have a couple of patterns for hats which use sock wool held double.2 -

Normally, when I'm using up the leftovers from a 100g ball of sock yarn, I'll knit a contrasting foot, like the one below:
These are my standard "use-em-up socks". However, like you, these days I tend to buy either 2x100g balls or 3x50g balls, so that I can make 2 or 3 complete pairs and only have a couple of metres left over.
With this most recent pair of socks, I thought I'd see what would happen if I alternated rows, since both colourways were from the same self-patterning yarn. I think it worked, until I got part of the way down the foot, panicked and brought in the third skein.
What do you think? I had 35g of the grey, 25g of the blue and threw in 5g of a third yarn. What you see are grey cuffs and heels, with the legs, gusset and part of the foot knitted by alternating rows of blue and grey yarns. The toe of the first sock is knitted in the grey. On the second sock, I thought I'd knit to the end of the grey before joining in the third skein and it went a lot further down the foot than I was expecting. The contrasting toe is actually the third skein unblended, because the blue finally ran out just as I was starting the toe.

PipneyJane said:Thanks @Savvy_Sue. Good luck with your socks. I've only done one pair of afterthought heeled socks and discovered my usual sock-recipe foot is too short when worked with that method. I always count rows and 48 for the foot certainly weren't enough.
I think they look great, and let's face it, the toe is the least likely bit to be seen ...PipneyJane said:

Pitney Jane -I do like those "use-em-up"socks. There is nothing like warm socks on cold days.
We have accepted an offer for our house and I'm trying to use up all my yarn etc before we move. I've done a couple of twiddle muffs and now am making dolls clothes for DGD. I've sorted out a bundle of surplus needles for my knitting group and now need to sort out lace, buttons and trimmings4
