i finally got my reader's shawl started.  i'm a lazy, uninterested sort of person...if it's not quick and easy, I don't really want to do it.  But I finally got the 2x2 rib (only 4 rows, i am truly pathetic) done correctly and it's all garter stitch for about 12,337 rows.  But it is started.  It should be about 6 feel long and in 2 days I got more than 12inches done so i'm happy.
:o  All those rows, I hope you don't have to count them!

I am fairly pants at row counting, so if it matters I (try to remember to) use a row counter. Then I also put a stitch marker every 10 rows - my stitch markers are short knotted lengths of yarn in a contrast colour, I've got some lovely cotton ones which slip around very nicely. THEN I add a different colour length of yarn every 50 or 100 rows.

I only do easy stuff too: I rely on the wool to make it look interesting. It's worked so far!

Wish me luck, I've been asked to knit a shawl for a July wedding.  Narrowed the colour down to two shaded (I let the wool shop decide because on line picking is tricky).
  • Savvy,  oh, heavens, no!  I won't be counting.  I'll just garter stitch mindlessly until it's the length i want.

I'm a total wimp.  I'm redoing the shawl I knit for my DIL.  It's the "Glasgow Rose" stole.  2ply lace weight.  The bride's colours are teal and grey and she'd like the shawl in a teal tone.  So, I'm letting the wool shop lady pick.

Ooohhhh!  That is lovely.  It will look beautiful in teal.

If it's this pattern, that's not 'total wimp' territory! Looks gorgeous.
