I love them both - they're gorgeous.  What's the pattern for the never ending jumper please?
    Is it this one?

Do tell, @timehastoldme .  It has an interesting stitch pattern.

I looked at that one Pip, but it seemed different somehow.
Has the yarn been twisted perhaps?

It will be a while before I tackle the Sunday mohair one, or indeed the waistcoat with the provisional caston, but I have bought the needles for the former. I got SmartStix which change colour every 2 mm so you can see how wide your work is at a glance. They even mention a cable with measurements marked on it ...

But right now I'm just doing tension squares for some socks for my son's friend. I have a choice of wools, so thought I'd do a square in each to see which I preferred knitting with. I've got Drops Delight which is meant to be purple and green, but seems mostly navy blue to begin with, and King Cole Zig Zag in a blue / turquoise / green. have changed from my Symphonie needles to metal because I can see the stitches better that way. I had the wit to start with a larger needle because I know my tension usually comes up small ... seems about right so far.

I also knitted some handwarmers in a lovely purple cotton blend, sent to this friend to cheer them up, and also did a heart and a butterfly, posted today which I forgot to take a photo of. Quick'n'easy, unlike the socks which I know will take a while.

In searching for patterns, I found the one I used for my first two pairs of socks, which fit me perfectly! But I used a 2.5mm needle, not sure I can ever face that again!

These are the socks, growing quite nicely. They are more green / turquoise than this, it's the King Cole wool. The purple and green was too dark for evening knitting, although I think it will get lighter later. I've managed to get back onto the Symphonie needles, which I prefer the feel of. I watched 101 videos about knitting socks Two At A Time but concluded that the sleeves method PipneyJane introduced me to works better for me. (Most of the socks have one sock in the loop of the needle, and the other split into two halves on the needles, and you knit round.) And I have fixed a 'snag': not sure what I had done but there was a bit which didn't feel or look quite right, whether I slipped a stitch instead of knitting it, so I ran one stitch down, then two and finally sorted it on my third attempt. At least I think I've sorted it.

So sorry, I completely missed this. That's the one, I think it'll look better when it's finished and blocked but it's more than possible I've twisted something somewhere. It's an interesting knit 1 cc row, then k1 MC, slip1 knitwise with yarn in back row followed by a knit one mc, slip 1 purlwise (wyib) row.

The pattern is broken into sections so it feels doable, but the sections are so frustratingly small it never feels like progress.

Less knitting more darning at the moment, insomnia kicking me in the tail.

That looks lovely.  Nice and warm too.
Just discovered that I must have forgotten  to increase in one row on DGS mitts  so am going to have to unravel  back to the ribbing!

    I'd probably fudge it ...

Is that a nice easy pattern for mitts in a small size? I've been asked to knit some for a 19 month old and was planning to invent something, but a pattern would help ...

  • I got it off Ravelry but it would be too big for a 19 month old-DGS is a large nine year old.I chose it because i'd knitted him a scarf with a cable pattern and the mitts have cable along the back. It is quite easy and I've unravelled it and started again.
