1. I'm knitting what I hope will be a snood for a friend but it's growing so slowly. I've done about 10 rows so far. Can anyone recommend an easy lacy / open stitch I could move on to? I've done [STRIKE]Seashell[/STRIKE] Sea Foam before and will go for that by default if no other suggestions.
2. I want to knit FIL some gloves and remember Mum had a sideways pattern. Actually forget that question, I've just found a few patterns! Just need some brown sock wool now ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I might try experimenting, but it's obviously going to be a lot more complicated than I thought ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I knitted some wool gloves in sheeps wool, they were pretty but too big and let the air through. I accidentally washed them in the machine, it was the best mistake, they came out a bit felted. I dried them and they now fit perfectly and are windproof.0

Got the wool, but the only pattern which I've been able to download is clearly for a small child's gloves, although there are lots of pictures for adult gloves.

Really? A quick search on Ravelry shows over 800 free patterns for men’s gloves, including one pattern that is knitted sideways and then seamed up.

PS: My choice would be for the Airman’s Knitted Gloves which is in a booklet that can be downloaded for free from the State Library of Victoria."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Reading this thread with interest, I’ve knitted for sixty years ... learned to crochet recently
For the snood - how about the stitch where you wrap yarn round needle multiple times after knitting two together ... dropping the excess wraps on the next row?Stop Buying **** We Don't Need0 -

Hello All,
I've been loom knitting away.
Pleased to report I managed my very own creation (no pattern and just an idea) to create some bike mitts. They sit over the handles and have a slit opening in them and a closed end and the hands sit inside them with plenty of room to grip the handles and brake lever, Chunky wool and a nice close stitch means theyre quite rigid/holding shape but I think that's desirable really as there will be less faffing to get hands in and out of them.
I'm working on some small childrens hats using the hat yarn cakes from Aldi. Thinner yarn than I'd like but I recently purchased some smaller gauge looms to enable me to use more comfortably the skinnier yarn.
Also have a scarf on the go using up a cake of yarn, but Im not really feeling the yarn, feels very rigid and scratchy. Tempted to give it a soak in some conditioner when its done and see how that goes. Will only use the time spent knitting it if it doesn't work.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I bought a cake of the Aldi yarn last week for a hat, I haven't knit it yet as I have several projects on the go at the moment, is the wool OK? it feels quite nice, soft and squishy and I love the fluffy pompom (I think it was that that swayed me lol)
