I must confess on the Aldi yarn I've not been impressed this time round. Its far too thin for what its labelled as - which its doubly irritating for me as I loom and thinner yarns aren't great for that.
I do find it quite scratchy too even for acrylic. I've managed to knit up a kids hat only using half of one of the pom pom hat kits so I'll do another with the remainder and make my own pom pom for that one and gift those. One the plus side, the colour combos are nice :)

Ive currently got about 4 projects on the go and I keep chopping and changing so I need to settle down with a good film, and some snacks and crack them out. Must must MUST not start any new ones either till these are done - famous last words LOL

    Hi everyone
Im glad Im not on my own having several projects on the go. Theres some that need just finishing off ie the collar needs knitting but I need to concentrate for that one, and I have one that just needs sowing up. I have a pair of socks, a baby's shawl, a summer short sleeved jumper and in the final project bag is another baby cardigan, I quite like having different things on the go as some I can do mindlessly, some whilst watching tv, some where I need to concentrate and then the ones I don't like so much that need sewing together!!!

I thought having lots of different projects was required? :rotfl: I have 'big knitting' and 'small knitting', which at the moment also separates 'my knitting' from 'knitting for other people'.

I don't generally do anything I can't do fairly mindlessly, but I like to have something small enough to fit in a handbag for taking to church, and I generally take 'knitting for other people' to church.

  • I have been tempted, again and have bought a jumpers worth of devonia yarn from john arbon. I love pure wool and this one is mainly blue faced so is very smooth and being 4 ply is lightweight, anyway thick jumpers are just too warm in my centrally heated home . So I am going to make a short striped batwing top which will be perfect for easy layering with my long thin polo tops. I only needed 4 skeins and now have to ball up and get the tension right, bag it and wait for the christmas holiday so I can watch films and knit, utter bliss
  • I am in process of doing proper old fashioned tension squares, 3 rows, a different colour row, row counter used and marks 3 stitches in on each side. Will wash as I would the jumper, then wait to dry. I am not always so patient but it matters for a top with limited yarn. I haven`t knitted for a very long time, been too busy but am loving it again. I found some more jumper stashes with all the colours for a fair isle steeked cardi but I never made a note of the pattern, yikes, could be anywhere
  • Pattypan I love wearing warm shawls, currently sitting here with https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dispersion draped round me

I'm trying to cut down my WIPS to 3.
So, currently working on my newly found crochet skill by making a granny square blanket, knitting a poncho for myself and finishing the last of the christmas scarfs ... having stashed the half finished big baby blanket away in the cupboard for new year. Whilst in the cupboard I sorted three future projects from stashed wool, a jumper for his nibs, a cardigan for the daughter in law and a lacy poncho for me.
I'm feeling very virtuous now and organised.
If i can only stay out of the yarn shop in the village ...
    Stop Buying **** We Don't Need :D
  • I am loving the devonia yarn, real good drapey quality and I have almost done the rib in the round with 4 ply devonia. I couldn`t help it, got a discount voucher and anyway I have to get my own presents for under the tree, bought a pattern on rav called siri. Its a cardigan but could also be a jumper and lots of people have made it. I jumped in feet first and bought 2 jumper weights of dk devonia and s*d it, I could have worse vices. Love that my knitting mojo came back

That is a lovely shawl borollan. This is siri

  • Does anyone else plan a Christmas project for over the holiday and into New Year? A friend gave me a beautiful ball of very trendy mustard coloured yarn which has a silver thread running through it for my birthday recently. So when I settle down after Christmas dinner I’m going to make a start on a shawl shaped scarf for myself.

Yes, the gloves for FIL. BUT I'm going to have to spend some time on the computer re-writing the pattern, because having knitted half-way across one hand, the fingers are far too long with my first guess at how many stitches to cast off / on ...
