I'd second Ravelry. But be careful...it's insanely addictive! :o

Yes, can I echo this warning? It's very, very addictive.

Hi, there's a video here. Not sure if it's right, as I don't know anything about stitches and their names.

Im not terribly good at knitting although last christmas I found some ribbon yarn I think its called... its sort of all flufffy... and I made 3 scarves ... dead easy... cast on 20 stiches with number 5 needles and then knit/knit/knit every row.... really good presents and easy to make...

The only other thing I can do is crochet in a square :D

This is the scarf I made for my 2 year old... she has pulled at it a bit now though... Image032.jpg

After reading this thread I got inspired to learn how to knit. I've started with the basics and have done a couple of bobble hats for the age concerned http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/thebigknit/?Page=how_to_knit
The problem I got now is to make the bobbles. I've done these before when I was younger and know how to do them but never so small.
Is there anyone here who knit the bobble hats as well and got suggestion what size to make the inner and outer circle and also what material to use for the frame for the bobble. I've tried a couple of times but end up with too big bobbles or the circled frame breaks before I finished. I got 20 bobbles to make and would really like to finish these so I can go onwards to my next knitting project.

Logged on to let you know how proud I was of knitting one of those premie hats for Save the Children, leaving DS a few yards away in his walker.

So while I am getting ready to type about knitting, he gets at my knitting, pulls it all over and then gets the wool wrapped round and round his walker wheels.

I have just said some rude words, but I thought I would share.

greenpixey - sorry I can't help - I never managed a successful bobble even in school.

I had better go - DS is in trouble finding mode.
    Always another chapter

Have used up all my oddments of double knitting wool to make a throw/blanket in autumn colours. Have just run out of wool and all the charities shops near me do not have any jumpers etc that I can recycle:mad: , it seems to be all t shirts etc. Oh well, I suppose it will be patchwork quilts from now on!

I would recommend the pony pom pom makers (I think I bought them from Hobby craft), you can also buy online and I have seen them in other wool shops. I think I paid less than £2 so not too expensive:

The smallest (red) one was good for the innocent hats, if you want to make your own the outer diameter is 20 mm and the inner diameter 12 mm, although I still trimmed the final pom pom to make them a bit more in proportion with the hat. You probably want to use quite sturdy cardboard as they are not that easy to make when they are that small, quite fiddly.
