Hi BELLA - I told myself I wasn't buying any more magazines but I bought Let's Knit (March issue but I think April's is due out any day now!) yesterday; it has a free DVD but I haven't watched it yet - I think it's about techniques. Your free gift sounds much more useful - I may well be tempted to buy Simply Knitting tomorrow!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I don't think I'll be able to resist the next issue of Let's Knit. The last one had loads of ideas for charity knitting. It looked really great.
Trouble is, my DS is coming up for 15 months now. My house is full of half read magazines, that I really want to read.
What I could really do with is a time travel thingy which meant I could have about another 8 hours in a day  Then I would finally finish all my projects (yeah, right)Always another chapter0 -
HEV - you want what I want - 36 hour days and 8 day weeks. There's never enough time, is there?KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Sounds like the cover gifts are doing just what the publishers intend. They are making us buy the magazines. Clever isn't it? We get one mag (definately our last) but the 'coming next month' page looks so interesting so we get another and before we know it we have a pile as big as hev's which we haven't read.
All I can say to the publishers is 'OK you win' for the time being anyway.

As long as each issue has a good selection of patterns it will offer fairly good value for money. I find it annoying that you can't flick through them before buying them now that they seal the packages; I don't think it's fair, considering you wouldn't dream of buying most things without having a chance to examine them first. I only started buying Let's Knit because my Mum discovered it and said it was good, but I shall keep an eye on the advertising content. After all, these magazines are not cheap, are they?KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I couldn't agree more about them being sealed
I've put above about how annoyed I was at the sweater which all the teasers had with a cowl neck and when I finally tear off the plastic - it's a removable cowl/hood and a boat neck sweater.
And I had waited ages for it because I try and support my local newsagents who always get their magazines last. I kept rushing down and being disappointed but holding on because I loved the pattern.
Two points occur to me as I type:
1 - I don't have the time to knit it, and it would have to go at the bottom of the queue. I have a 'fuller figure' so knitting a long line sweater in DK would take a loooong time.
2 - There's probably exactly the pattern I want out there when I am ready to knit it, and it's probably even in a charity shop or from a free pattern website, and probably in quicker aran or chunky.
I need to do a reality check more often.
I have stalled on the cowl neck of the tunic I am currently knitting. I hate making things up so I think the thought of getting out the wool needle is stalling me. I have done back, front and two sleeves (it's a pattern designed to be quick to knit 'our knitter finished this in 18 hours' stuff) and I have started the neck. Sigh. I may do what I have done before and prop a picture of the project I want to do next in front of me to get me motivated.Always another chapter0 -
Hev - have you tried the Berroco or Ravelry sites for a cowl neck sweater pattern?
I couldn't find the Simply Knitting magazine in any of the shops I visited today - I shall look in a larger newsagents on Monday for it. I did pick up a book called 'Wild Knitting' for 25p in a charity shop. It's lovely, full of fantastic inventive designs for clothes, accessories and toys; I can't wait to sit and read through it properly - I haven't had time today but will find time over the weekend.
I am determined to spend this evening knitting, though - I have had such a busy but irritating day and knitting makes me relax, especially if it is accompanied by a bottle of vino!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
