Some great tips there, thanks everyone. I have picked up some new yarn for another version of the cowl and also some knit pro symfonie circular needles...I must say I like them a lot.

If you are knitting a complex stitch pattern (lace or Aran, etc, or even plain stocking stitch for beginners), inserting a Life-line can save frogging the whole of your knitting. You only have to frog to latest Life-line.

Check out how to do this online.

Oh my gosh iQueen I love it! Thank you so much, why didn't I think of this before. The thing is, I know the pattern is not difficult, it's a cable but very simple one. But for some reason I just keep dropping stitches or keep ending up with extra ones. I frogged again this morning...oh dear, maybe I should just buy wrist warmers lol

Can anyone recommend a pattern for a girls poncho? 3/4years old, simple pattern in DK or Chunky.

    Thanks in advance.

I used Picot Hem Poncho Pattern Number: L1012 by Lion Brand when I made some for my niece's girls.
:oJack of all trades ... Master of none :o
  • New here. Just trying to finish a simple scarf, but keep getting sidetracked by my children. I can't even remember how many times I've had to backtrack because I've been distracted and messed up. I'm beginning to hate this scarf. lol If I only work on it when the children are in bed, I'll never get it done.
    Saving, decluttering and doing alright.

Keep going Pennydropped, you will get there and be really proud of yourself. But I get the frustration lol
  • Pennydropped of course you will get it done, it will just take longer and when they are older you can teach them to knit.

    Cuddles those are lovely.

Thanks iQueen I looked it up and I shall remember that the next time I do a complicated pattern.

I tell you not to give up and I am going to give up on a scarf because it is in fishermans knit. It keeps going wrong and you cant just pull back a row or too it just makes a bigger mess.

I have knit 4ft of it and it grows so slowly and I make so many mistakes I have had enough. I started another scarf last night and it is growing so quickly I think I will pull it out and do this one again. The trouble with fishermansknit is just one slightly wonky stitch sticks out like a sore thumb.

Loads of FREE patterns on Ravelry, Lion Brand, Bernat, and Knit Picky Patterns. I rarely buy patterns now, except cheap, used ones on eBay! ;)

A plain rib scarf looks good and is easy - either K1, P1, with borders of 3 garter sts, each side; or K2, P2, with 4 garter sts each side.

With children around - knit simple! Save more demanding patterns/garments for when they are in bed! :rotfl:

Fisherman's rib looks nice but it also uses more yarn. Maybe try my pattern above?

Knit some plain stocking st ones, until you can see how they work, before trying patterned ones?
