Pennib - it looks great, even without the pockets.
I'm a great believer in tweaking patterns anyway so it doesn't really matter if different from the original.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

Here is the search I did on Ravelry.
I used the Advanced Search and the search terms (filters) were: pullover; free; yes (for photo); knitting; 4mm (for needles); baby; toddler (for age). Many baby patterns go beyond 12months.
I didn't filter for DK, choosing needle size instead, because Worsted is a similar weight yarn, and you just need a pattern that knits to DK tension - 22sts to 4in (10cm).
Ravelry has a very comprehensive search engine, and sometimes you can find what you want by playing with the filters, or putting in your own search term eg pumpkin hat.
If you want to see the actual pattern, you need to search for 'free' patterns. Below all the pattern specs, in the listing, there is the line:
This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download
When you click on the underlined link, a window opens, with a button to download the pattern as a pdf. You can then read the pattern and save it to your computer.
Sometimes, on a listing there will be a web link below the Ravelry link, which takes you to the designer's website for the pattern. You can then cut and paste it into a Word doc. and save it.
Once you have spent a bit of time playing with Raverly, you will find it an amazing website. It is very sophisticated and takes a bit of time to realise its full usefulness.Needs, NOT wants!

Thanks iQueen, I have fiddled around and I tried lots of different things. I tried boys, It is obviously not a child in US as I got lots of 6fters and people with lumps on their chests. It did put 8 ply into my search but still came up with lots of 4ply.
The yarn I have is knitting up a bit bigger only 20 stitches to 4 inch so I will probably have to go down a size in knitting needles.
I spent the afternoon on this site.

It will tell you it cant find the page you want but you will be on the right page. There are 2424 patterns on there all free. If you click on patterns and the free patterns you will get 202 pages so have plenty of time.
I got two jumper patterns for DGS, one for his teddy, T-Rex and I never thought I would knit one of these, an aeroplane, it is gorgeous and very easy.
There are lots of gifts for everyone
I never stick to the pattern and I often make my own. I don't put pockets on babies clothes. I just need a pattern to get used to knitting for littles again. I have made up all the patterns I have used for Christmas presents.0 -
Hi everyone I thought I would do a quick update...I've now frogged the mittens about 5 times lol but I am persevering! In order to inspire myself and try and have a quick/easy win I have started an infinity cowl from ravelry, in lovely chunky yarn on circular needles. I think this will be a nice distraction and help me feel I am not utterly rubbish he he0

I know the feeling Fay! I've been knitting for 60 years now, used to knit Fair Isle and fancy colourwork, but since I got ME my brain just doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders. I am not a lace knitter and why I decided to knit a fine lace scarf I don't know. I just wish I hadn't because it's been pulled out more than it's been knitted in, if you follow me. LOL but it is is not going to beat me! I could've done 3 prs of socks in the time this measly thing has taken and it's not even close to being finished. :mad:0

I'm knitting a lace scarf too-for DDs Christmas present. It's 56 inches long now but I want to get up to 72 inches so still a way to go. DH looked at the yarn band and was horrified to find that there were over 1000 metres of yarn in one ball.0

See it is not just beginners we all go wrong some time. You have done the right thing in starting something simpler to calm you down.
If it is a lacy pattern I read something a couple of weeks ago about how to keep right with lacy patterns because I have never been able to do complicated lace patterns. It advised me to put a stitch marker at the end of each repeat of the pattern. That means you can see at a glance each time you change to another repeat. I always find if I go wrong it is in just one repeat so this way means you will find it easier.
This is not like marking the end of a row this means having a loop on your needle between stitches. Loom bands are just the thing for that. They are very cheap and you get hundreds. The craze looks to be over so they are going very cheap I paid only 50p for 300 of them. Anywhere were you need to count stitches they will work. Breaking it down into simple short tasks just like revising for exams. I am sure it will work. Just keep slipping them from one needle to the other as you go.0 -
Just a quick tip about stitch markers.
I use them as above and when knitting in the round.
Recently went on holiday and forgot to take any = aaaaaarggghhh.
Then I remembered something I read. Cut tiny strips from a plastic drinking straw and use these. They worked brilliantly and I use them all the time now.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

I just use loops of yarn, usually contrasting colour, as stitch markers.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.
