I think I have a wool problem. I have had to get one of those plastic crates to store my wool and needles in as my knitting bag was far too full. Every time I see pretty wool in a shop I tend to cave and buy some! Oh dear!
Only one crate?!! ;) I seem to have large bags and boxes of wool secreted all over the house...not to mention all my X-stitching and sewing stuff!!!:eek:

ooh needles, now that is interesting. I bought a complete set of bamboo, ebay from asia and now, 2 years on they are oiled from the wool and knit beautifully. I have a complete set of lantern moon, which are longer than the bamboos and a beautiful needle, I have circular needles and a full set of metal needles from 30 years ago. Not talking about the sets of DPNS and interchangeables. Some of them are just so lovely and tactile

Re stashes, lol I thought I had a lot but no-where near as much as in many photos on ravelry

Has anyone tried spinning? I have bought some bluefaced leicester tops and a lovely drop spindle, I suppose I am hoping to learn about spinning the cheap way first and perhaps use the yarn to make some gloves or a cowl for starters
  • Finished my owl scarf! Sorry about the picture quality

We've had a go at it at our kids club. We even made our own spindles out of a piece of dowel and some old c.d's! It is great fun but does take a lot of work to get a decent amount of wool. My friend loves to buy fleeces and spin her own but invested in spinning wheel due to amount needed and also a carding machine as doing that by hand is exhausting and you end up with huge biceps! :rotfl:

Thank you, I'm really very new to knitting and have barely done any all year, because I learned to crochet and focused on that, so I'm so pleased to have started and finished an actual project!

Love the scarf, my DD1 would love that.

I have only just started to learn to knit, started last wk. I went into a charity shop today and got 4 lots of needles for £6.50. Got a pair of 20mm wooden ones that I was thinking of buying to knit a chunky scarf I have seen on you tube. Chuffed to bits. Didn;t know that they can't be displayed so thanks for the advice on this thread.:T
