Have you looked on Ravelry? Do you remember which company's wool it used or who was the designer? If you can, then you might find it on Patternfish, which is a site that sells the pattern archives for several yarn companies.

    Good luck.
Thanks again PJ; I forgot to say, yes it was a Sirdar pattern, have asked them but no response yet.

No luck on Patternfish as yet, but wil keep an eye in future, as I do on Ravelry. I also have a permanent search on ebay.

I'd be grateful if anyone has other suggestions of where I might look. Thanks.

Pipney Jane, would that work with any picking up? I've made DS2 a v-neck jumper, & managed the picking up (the bit I like least) & finished it - great, it's only taken 2 years...

But now, he loves it so much, he wants more, & has specified v-neck as he wants 2 for school (eek, he's only got this year & next at that school, so I'll have to get a move on!)...

I got a couple of the packs of cora yarn from L1dl the other week to knit into scarves as Christmas presents - they knit up so quickly! I've finished 1, & nearly finished the other. DS1 wants me to see if they've got any yarn left so I can make him 1 now as well.

Yes, it works whenever you need to pick up stitches.
Would a fine sized crochet hook do or is it better with the latch hook? I knew the number of stitches that required to be picked up and it was double knitting yard.

    Thanks. GB

You can use a crochet hook but I find that far more fiddly/frustrating because the yarn is more likely to fall off. With a latch hook, the latch closes around the yarn when you start to pull it through the fabric; therefore, it can't fall off. (I'm quite cack-handed.)

Maybe a useful addition to my accessories. Thanks.

hello knitters!! Quick question - I'm knitting a snood (or a scarf with the ends joined together!) for someone who is 5ft tall, but have no idea how long to knit the scarf before I sew it together...if you know what I mean.

Any ideas/tips? It's dk yarn in garter stitch - nothing fancy.

    Ta!

Just finished my chunky cardie, with aran front. I am so disappointed!

The yard is James Brett Marble, in lovely reds, but knitted up it gives stripes, of course. However, they clash horribly where side and back meet.

The two fronts are different, too, whereas on the pattern everything seemed to match.

It'll be a warm cardie to wear in the house anyway.

  • Just hopping into this thread as I'm trying learn to crochet as a new hobby while pregnant this winter!

All you guys seem so expert... How did you learn originally? I'm thinking a combination of books, the web and maybe a course?!
