Love the socks, Orkney, what yarn is that - gorgeous colours - and the stitch pattern really shows it off

    Lovely knitting everyone.

Sorry Orkney, neither of the links work for me...will log onto Ravelry and check you out there.

Not done much knitting, been trying out some crocheted snowflakes. Some worked well and others... :o

Off to the big quilt show @ N£C tomorrow, it will be wonderful and shattering, I can't wait! Taking my socks to knit on the train there and back. :D

Have a great weekend everyone x

  • Hello. Long time lurker here asking you talented people for help please. I used to be an enthusiastic knitter, taught by my mum at the age of 5.

I haven't knitted for about 12 years now, and feel the urge to start again. I used to love doing aran, and using fancy stitches, but want to practise before I buy a load of wool. I've had a look at Ravelry and my thought is to buy a big ball of aran-type wool and using the dimensions of dishcloths, knit up squares in different stitches to get my hand back in (and quick fix satisfaction at getting each one finished). Do you think this is a plan?

Is there another site/book you could recommend which concentrates on different stitches? I can remember the basics.
    Many TIA

Does anyone have a simple scarf pattern (or any good pattern) for using with eyelash yarn. I managed to pick up 9 balls last weekend for 30p a ball and have told my mil that I will knit some scarves for her to sell to help raise funds for air ambulance. I cast on 10 stitches today and it doesn't seem to be enough. I then cast on 20 stitches but won't get a scarf from a 50g ball which is ideally what I was hoping for (not much of a realist am I :o).

I've had a look online but can't really find anything. I wanted to take my knitting to mil's tomorrow so I can hopefully give her something to get going.

    Thanks.

Have you tried a (much) larger needle size?
It's a long time since I've made one of these eyelash scarves, but I seem to remember it was on surprisingly large needles and 2 balls made a scarf that was long enough for the loop knot style of wearing - but not really long to wind around your neck twice.

Just wanted to share, I sent a LH parcel off today. Had other things to post anyhow so thought I might as well get it sent off too.
