I think so too Pennib. You'd pay a small fortune for them in a shabby chic type shop.

Hi everyone. I'm a self taught crocheter via you tube and want to learn how to knit now too. The only snag is I don't know what stitch I should be learning first. There's so many out there and I'm afraid of falling at the first hurdle,

Also can you help me with what the stitch is called that gets the loops on the needle in the first place. I'm wanting to search for tutorials but I don't know what to search for lol

And lastly, I'm looking to do practise squares (and stitch together to make a blanket) and wil be using DK yarn. Can you help me with what size knitting needles I should buy?

    Thanks in advance :)

Hi Fuddle, welcome to the world of knitting.

You need to look for tutorials on casting on, that's how to start your knitting off

If you are using double knitting wool you will need size 8, 4mm needles.

Just stick to stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl) or garter stitch (every row knit) to start with.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

Aw brilliant thank you. You know what I feel really stupid. It's a 4mm crochet hook I use with DK. I should have just thought about it. I didn't realise (although it's darn obvious!) that they would be the same.

Thank you! Off to go suss it out now :)
