Looking for some advice please. Today I bought a 50gm ball of Jaeger Alpaca in my local charity shop. They only had the one ball unfortunately. Now I'm wondering what I can knit with this amount. I'm not even sure what ply it is but I think it looks thiner than DK.
Would I be able to get a pair of socks out of it? I've only made socks in DK and they used about 65gm for the pair. I don't think it would be enough for a scarf, would it?
I'm not a very experienced knitter so just have no idea so would welcome your advice. It's such lovely wool I'd like to put it to good use. Thanks,

Jaeger made one yarn called 'Alpaca' which is 4ply and then there was one called 'Alpaca Double Knitting' so you probably have the 4 ply. The recommended needle size helps as DK is usually 4mm needles while 4ply uses smaller.

According to the yarn database on Ravelry a 50g ball is 183m so not enough for adult socks, maybe for a child. There are 132 projects using this yarn on Ravelry - lots of wristwarmers/fingerless gloves - maybe browse the pattern ideas and projects tabs here:

Or do a pattern search specifying the length and type of yarn you have and see what you like there:

Orkney your corgi is sooooooo cute. I'd be chuffed to bits if I'd knitted him :T
Cuddles one day I WILL try to knit a pair of socks. I keep saying I will everytime I buy a new pair. And I love it when I'm bought socks too.
    Yep...I do love socks :D

Hi archieboy. If you decide to knit some wristwarmers here's a really easy pattern I found a while ago. Fingerless mittens I hadn't knitted for donkeys years and wanted something easy to try. They knit up beautifully and you don't have to change colours if you don't want to. There is a pic I posted of them somewhere on here but it was a looooooong time ago :D
