  • Don't reckon I will - no drafts in my house! This is going to be my next project, just for fun! I sold a couple of books on Amazon today, so I'm going to save the money for yarn. What projects are you all planning?

Ooo Landgirl, he's fab.....will you do some mice as well?

The wrap is growing and looks really good....nice to see one 'in the flesh'

Currently on my needles, is a dishcloth...it's got a bit of a lacy pattern.
And, the chunky scarf for Miss Twit, which I really must get finished.

    Hi all

I have just finished reading this whole thread and my head hurts lol. I took up knitting again after christmas, when i saw some really cheap wool for sale in our local lidl. I paid about 5 euros for a pack of 4 balls (very cheap!) and bought what i thought was enough for 4 scarves. But I have managed to make one for hubby's gran, one for MIL, one for my mum and one each for my two daughters (aged 5 and 3). Really chuffed - got 5 scarves out of the wool meant for 4!

Have just started one for my dad which is from a 1940's knitting pattern i found on the web. If anyone wants it, please just pm me and i will send it on. It's called a fatigue scarf and looks like it will keep the old man warm when he is on his night shifts! After that am starting a 1940s fatigue cap for him as well!

But am really happy cos I bid on ebay and managed to get 16 knitting patterns for 3.48 GBP including postage! Have been trying in vain to get needles because I just cannot find any out here and I only have 1 pair of 4mm ones that I kept for some reason. Really need to get some new ones. If I can sell some stuff on ebay tomorrow then I will get some really nice bamboo ones but will ahve to see if i can make some money yet! (spent all my last ebay profit on wool for a scarf for my 12 year old stepdaughter!)

My knitting bag is a really huge shopping bag that i got for 1 euro out of our local shop thats rather like a pound shop. I got another one thats full of wool. The bag i am using for my wool is really the knitting bag because the other onehas the finished articles in it!

If anyone would like details of my patterns (whenever I get them - our postage to BFPO takes a wee bit longer than normal post!) just pm me and I will happily scan them in and email them on! Share and share alike!

Happy knitting (I'm off for some sleep - knitting tires me out!)

    Di xx

PS - I can't remember who it was had dishcloth patterns and one for slippers but I would really like a copy of those if it is possible??? They would make ideal additional christmas pressies for all our female relatives.

    Thanks!

    Hi, everyone,

went out and got myself needles (5.5 mm) from charity shop for 0.75£ and sets of 3/4 in Poundland. Also got a bege chenille yearn in Poundland and have just done a 10cmx10 cm square with a very loose knit... I'm really happy I learned again how to knit the basic. However:
    - I remeber my needles having a small hook at the end when I was growing up... These ones don't.
    - Maybe chenille was not the best to start. It said on the package the yarn is enough for a scarf so I thought it was value for money. However now I cannot see very well the pattern and it is all loose.
Any help on this, please? Which yarn is the best to start?

Pipkin, how is your book called? I've just ordered a book called Knitters' bible, since I saw it at WHSmith and it looked very pedagogical (which at this stage is what I am looking for), however I'm not sure it will have a lot of patterns.

Sorry for repeating the question: Pipkin, how is your book called?

Can anyone recommend a nice book of projects for beginners? Nothing too challenging, please, but nice outcomes.

    Slightly off topic but...

Does anybody here do needlepoint/ tapestry. I've done them in the past and to be honest I never finish a whole cushion. I was thinking about doing a smaller design, say something 7" square. I like fairly modern designs (not scenes of country cottages and tonned of cats).

    Who here enjoys tapestry?

Also (why is this thread still going- we're in January and its an October thread!), Maybe we should change it to a monthly craft board so people who knit, sew etc can share their ideas and finished works!
