So sorry, Bonsibabe, I didn't notice your location!
I have found this list of shops in Germany, perhaps one of them is near to you?

Thanks Seakay, but unfortunately none of those shops are anywhere near us. But at least I only have to wait for 2 weeks. My mam and dad are arriving the day after valentines day so will get my cotton then! But i think my enormous bag of wool should keep me going till then lol.

I have never used a knitted dishcloth. I've always used those little sponges with the green rough stuff. Are they any good? Could you just use string or is it best to use the proper stuff?

Don't let me start another project. Got little jacket all knitted and all that needed doing was to sew up one pocket (why do they put functional pockets on baby clothes? Do they think they're going to keep their betting slips in them!) and the collar and to put on the buttons.

So... I started on my tunic. Sigh. Done around six inches up the back already. I love knitting the backs of sweaters.

Perhaps at the weekend when I don't feel so much like cheering myself up I can get the jacket finished. DS is not short of clothes, so it is not urgent and in fact he is likely to need to do some growing before he fits it. It could be worse.
    Always another chapter

Hi everyone. I just wanted to thank whoever it was (I'm sorry, I can't remember who!) for the link to Ravelry. I have just received my invitation and have spent the last couple of hours browsing and downloading some of the many free patterns. I now have about 10,000 projects to make. Will I live long enough to do them all?! Anyway, thanks very much - it will be one of my favourite places!

    Hi Mioliere

I love ravelry. Do you think we should start a "Moneysavingexpert" group? I am sure there are more than just us on there. Possibly others who don't visit "old style"

Edit - I've done it. I've called it moneysavingexpert knitters group and stuck a picture of Twinks Hobnobs on. http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/moneysavingexpert-knitters/topics

Not got time to do much more with it yet (got to go to work)

Haven't posted on this thread for a while - had a knitting blitz for the last few months 2007/christmas due to dgd2 arriving in October.

Oh well, it's a New Year and YET ANOTHER on the way - dgc5 due around 24th August! So the knitting/crochet will be up and running once again.

I've just signed for an invitation to Ravelry as well. How long does it take for the Invitation to come through please? I've seen some patterns on their site that look absolutely gorgeous and am getting impatient to get in there for a 'good old nosey around'!
  • Hi all,

These are two knitted clowns I started to make Mr Fortywinks just b4 Christmas and Bertie Bloomer I made for my Dad for his 65th birthday last weekend.

Hi Hev; I think that you could use plain string for dishcloths, if you wanted. I use mine for the 'usual' washing up and wiping down surfaces, but use a brush or scrubber for the tough stuff.

Hi Olliebeak; I've just had my Ravelry invite so I think that they are taking about 3 weeks to come through

OLLIEBEAK - my Ravelry invitation took just over two weeks to get to me. I warn you, you'll be on there for ages! There are many temptations - I've printed off loads of free patterns.
PEEM has started a group on there for us MSE OS Knitters - here's the link:

PINK.1970 - you've knitted them beautifully. I knitted some Jean Greenhowe Clowns when my DS2 was small. He's 26 now and has put them away, along with the Postman Pat and various Wombles and other things that I knitted, for when his children come along. I daren't post pics of them because they have all been cuddled to death!

I am just about to finish a lovely knitted bag (from a pattern in this month's Let's Knit - which is a bit expensive at £4.99 but full of lovely patterns) and I still have a 'face' to put onto a tiny little doll I have knitted from an old Jean Greenhowe pattern I adapted slightly. I will try and post pics when they are both finished. Then I have to choose what to do next and that's going to be so hard!

Anyway, I have ironing to do (yawn) - I'd much rather be knitting.
