I was also knitting 2 Rainbow Babies for my friends children for Xmas, a long stocking hat (for me), and 2 scarves ( 1 for my DD for Xmas and ! for me).

I am now stuck as what to knit next, my neice likes Sidney Slapstick in the clowns so may start that for her birthday.

Thank you for all the lovely comments.

    Slightly off topic but...

Does anybody here do needlepoint/ tapestry. I've done them in the past and to be honest I never finish a whole cushion. I was thinking about doing a smaller design, say something 7" square. I like fairly modern designs (not scenes of country cottages and tonned of cats).

    Who here enjoys tapestry?

Also (why is this thread still going- we're in January and its an October thread!), Maybe we should change it to a monthly craft board so people who knit, sew etc can share their ideas and finished works!

Yooooo Hoooo I do tapestry. I've done a few biggies which I"m framed with non reflective glass. I've got one on the go now. I started it a few years ago and the wool was packed away. It's on my to do list this year. I really like doing them when I'm in the mood. :D When I first started out I hired a video from the library and a book and took it from there. Go for it.

Love the piccies. Well done. :T

Pink...where did you get the patterns for those lovely clowns...is it in a book, I would love to have them for when I get round to just knitting what I want to knit again.

Still on baby stuff, never thought I would be getting fed up as I love small knitting...have to search for a bit of wool to finish latest jacket as I can't seem to find any of the same type....HORSE FEATHERS!

    have a good day all

MEANMARIE - the clowns come from one of Jean Greenhowe's pattern books. If you just google 'Jean Greenhowe' you'll find loads of links. Her patterns are all very inventive but very easy to follow and to adapt, as well; I've knitted several of her toys and they're the perfect way of using up oddments of wool. Another great knitted toy designer is Alan Dart. Just google his name.

Mioliere just beat me to it. :) I was just going to say the same, Jean Greenhowe has her own site and you can get a few free downloads from there. I bought all my patterns from Ebay just before Xmas. HTH

I got it off ebay over the weekend. The problem is all the colours are so similar its difficult to see what you are doing in an evening!
  • I have a few balls of cotton, it was probably expensive when new, it's a sort of slub cotton, some of it is coral & white & some is taupe & white, I wonder if I could knit dishclothes with it?

You could have a go - I would do one of the plainer corner to corner garter stitch ones to start with, but that's just because I find patterns such as basket weave hard to do with a textured yarn.
