Hi ladies (do we have any men on here?), long time no chat,
I finally finished something other than a scarf! I made an aran cardi in grey but I can't find the lead for my phone so I can't post a pick. Unfortunately it is a little big for me so is more like a jacket than a cardi!
I am now knitting a reversible wrap with sleeves on a circular needle which is taking forever as the rows are 185 stitches long which is quite a lot for a beginner like me! I keep telling myself that there will be no sewing up to do at the end (if I ever get there!)
As always I am impressed by all the lovely things you have all been making.

My husband knitted our Morris Minor for their knitted village, but due to us having a 7 week old baby we won't get there to see the village. If anyone is going we'd love to have a photo of the village and the car in it, as we thought we might put an article about it in the Morris Minor club magazine.

Hi every one I have been asked to knit an aran long line jacket for someone, a friend of an aquaintance.
I normally add a nominal charge for knitting but this is a complicated pattern, what do you think woudl be reasonable price per ball it is a size 40 inch chest and 21 inch length from under arm.
thank you0 -
here is my latest effort0

How much do you value your time? How long do you think it would take you to knit this jumper? Minimum wage is £6.08 an hour. I'd charge that by the number of hours it takes to knit the jumper PLUS the cost of your raw materials. You are providing a service, like any other tradesman and should charge accordingly.
Sorry, this is a really sore point with me. Craftspeople under-rating the cost of their time is one of the reasons why "home made" and "hand made" are so undervalued in this country. It takes 16 hours to knit a pair of socks; probably 40 hours to knit a jumper. Charging £500 for that amount of time is reasonable, in my opinion. People will pay £100 for a screen-printed silk scarf, why won't they pay for something that takes far more time to produce? And that is unique."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
