  • Hello everyone

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

I've been lurking and reading posts on here for ages, but have never posted. I've come begging for some help.

A friend of mine has asked me to knit a v-necked jumper for her 13 - 15 inch teddy bear and I've agreed to do it and have been searching everywhere online for a pattern and have looked in loads of shops, even searched in Spotlight (a craft superstore) while in New Zealand when I was there and loads of other stores in London. Was even looking for prem babies knitting patterns.

I'm able to knit it without a pattern as I have one of the exact bears and have knittted round necked jumpers for mine before but the v-neck bit is stumping me, no matter what I do it doesn't look equal lol.

So my question is: Does anyone have a pattern that they wouldn't mind sharing with me? I'd be really grateful.

    thanx everyone

please can someone point me in the right direction. As a newbie knitter - i am trying to knit a square that has a different colour in the centre
    e.g. K red 7, K blue 42, K red 7.
I just wanted to know if you carry the wool across or tie and knot in and then repeat this for every row? I have looked everywhere on the internet for help but cant find anything.

    thanks

Neither. The technique you want is called " intarsia". There are dozens of YouTube videos which will show you how to do it (sorry on my phone or I'd link). Basically, it works like this:
Before you start, divide your main colour (blue) into 2 balls. Start knitting. When you get to the point where you join in the red, twist the 2 yarns around each other, drop the blue yarn and knit in red. At the end of the red section, bring in your second ball of blue by twisting it with the red then knitting on in blue. You will now have 3 balls of yarn hanging from your knitting. As long as you twist the yarns around each other when you change colours, you will get one continual fabric without any holes.

Does that make sense? It is easier when you can see it, which is why I recommend having a look on YouTube.

ETA sorry got the colours the wrong way around! Can't edit easily on this damn thing

    Hi,
Could someone help me make sense of this pattern please? I have a problem with brackets!
I have 60 stitches and I am making the last size, and the row reads:
    K6 [2:5:1:3], (yfwd, yrn, p1, p3tog, p1, yon, k2) 3 [5:5:7:7] times, yfwd, yrn, p1, p3tog, p1, yon, k6 [ 2:5:1:3].

So does this mean I k3, then do the first bit in brackets 7 times, then the last bit 3 times?
I think I have included the k3 at the start of each repeat and if I carry on like this I will run out of stitches won't I?

    Hope someone can help please

Hi- I think it means knit 6 x 3 times, then do the next bit in brackets x 7; finishing with the last bit x 3 times. Better to break it up into three different steps to help you. I`m sure someone will correct me if I`m wrong. I think you`re trying to do knit 3 at the beginning but it says Knit 6...and you`re doing the last size so it will be 18 stitches at each end. HTH

So square brackets mean to do something so many times and rounded brackets are actual instructions?
Thanks I will have another go - ripping back here I come !
