Ebay, Freecycle or more surprisingly your local woolshop. Mine often has bags of odds and ends for 20p left over from the stuff they've knitted for display. Otherwise join a local knitting group and hope someone there has a bit of what you're after. Its probably cheaper just to buy another ball though.
Thanks, I'll have a look on freecycle I never thought of there.0 -

Does anyone know of anywhere to buy odds and ends of wool? I brought six balls of different colour DK for a blanket, and one of them seems to be slightly different from the rest, I have lots left over of the other colours but ran out of one and I only need enough to finish half a square. I'd buy one but it's not a colour I'm likely to use again,
Have you tried Ravelry? Search for the yarn you want to use, then browse people's stashes for the colours you need. You can put a filter on "will trade or sell", to see who is willing to sell then PM them through Ravelry. You may even get lucky and find the same dye lot.
Also, have you weighed your half-square (and a whole one) to see how much yarn you need? That could help if you find someone with only a little left over who hasn't put it up as "will trade or sell"."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

Thanks, I had a look on Ravelry but couldn't see any available, I've brought some now so if I don't use it I can always put it up on there.0

Hi Ladies,
Circular knitting needles. I know this was discussed recently, but I don't have a lot of money to spend on them and was just wondering if it is possible to get a decent pair from Ebay or the like? I can't remember the name of the recommended ones, sorry.
So many patterns call for them, or DPNs and I have neither. Sigh.
Thanks in advance xxFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I have wooden tipped circular needles for socks, so small sizes, and they were about £5 per pair. Dpn's can be got for quite cheap though, especially if you happen to find someone selling their grannies old ones! ETA I also have some Lidl circulars, which seem fine, currently seeing how they are for socks. They don't always have them in though.
Just finished my beaded socks, more pics on ravelry.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

My circulars were from Lidl, a pack of 2 different sizes, £2.99 I think they were, plastic, and are great. I recently bought some metal DPN by 'Pony' whih were under £2 on ebay a set, again, they are great to use. I have seen this brand in knitting shops from about £1.50 a set, .. (small sizes I'm talking about).
Nice socks @ cuddles, take care0
