Was able to take this image with my phone not great but it’ll do.

    My cream and chocolate bedspread.

Very easy just big so it looks like a lot of work but it wasn’t. :)

Went to a craft fair yesterday. Saw some hand knitted socks up close and was inspired, awe struck even. Can anyone recommend a book of sock how tos thats not so novice its dull.... have Amazoned but nothing grabbed me and what little did the reviews put me off..... Following on from that any and all yarn recommendations would also be appreciated because I'm stuck with having to order anything thats not acrylic DK yarn over t'internet which eliminates the ability to touch it first.

    Thank y'all

I don't have this book, but it's been recommended to me

Getting Started Knitting Socks by Ann Budd.

Seems good for the basics according to Amazon reviews.

I used Silver's sock class and use the circular needle toe up option. Once you get the hang of it it's easy and if you buy the wool on offer it's not too expensive.

I tend to look for any 4ply wool. One lot I bought was 75% wool and 25% nylon and said suitable for socks. I'm currently knitting some that are 50% merino and 50% acrylic. I've used acrylic DK and wasn't too impressed with the results and having 'proper' wool content makes the socks so much warmer and suitable for winter.

Have you seen Texere website? they have some gorgeous wools, I just ordered some that I cant afford. LOL
  • I think this is a long shot but I am looking for a knitting pattern for a traditional fishermans rib sweater for a man, I have the wool, its the 5 ply Guernsey by Wendy and knitted on 2.5 & 3mm needles, I have spent weeks searching without any success, I am hoping that someone on here could help.

    Thanks so much
